What will you be doing?
We are looking for an experienced, diligent, committed and motivated lawyer to join our Legal Department as Senior Legal Counsel at our Piraeus office in Greece. This position reports to the Chief Legal Officer.
In this role you will be delivering on the following:
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including vendor, customer, and reseller agreements, non-disclosure agreements, contract amendments, statements of work, and data processing agreements. Ensure compliance with company policies and strategic objectives.
- Legal Advisory: Provide expert legal counsel on commercial, corporate, telecommunications, IT, intellectual property, data protection, and maritime law to support business objectives and mitigate legal risks.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, particularly in data protection and telecommunications. Advise stakeholders on legal risks, regulatory changes, and best practices.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams across sales, procurement, IT, and operations, offering proactive legal support and solutions to drive business initiatives.
- Project Leadership: Lead complex legal transactions and projects, including cross-border agreements and strategic partnerships, ensuring smooth execution and legal soundness.
- Policy Development: Develop, implement, and enhance internal legal policies, processes, and best practices to streamline the department’s operations and improve efficiency.
- External Counsel Management: Oversee and manage external legal counsel as needed, ensuring the provision of high-quality, cost-effective legal services.
- Contract Approval: Ensure adherence to Navarino’s contract approval policies, processes, and governance standards.
Requirements
- Legal Qualification: Qualified to practice law in Greece.
- Postgraduate Specialization: A Master of Laws (LL.M.) in shipping, IT/software, or telecommunications law is essential.
- Professional Experience: At least 7 years of full-time legal practice preferably in a law firm or in-house commercial environment is highly preferred. We will, however, assess your total knowledge and experience.
- Experience in an international/English-speaking work setting is required.
- Contractual Expertise: Extensive experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, particularly in the IT, telecommunications, intellectual property, or maritime sectors.
- Excellent writing and speaking skills at both Greek and English.
- Project and Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Proficient use of MS Office applications.
Great to have:
- Be a holder of a law degree from a Greek university.
- English Law: Knowledge of English law or dual qualification as an English solicitor is highly desirable.
- Experience in the shipping, telecommunications, or IT sectors.
- Experience in managing external counsel and cross-border legal issues.
