About the role
In this role, you’ll be a trusted advisor to MYOB’s financial services and product teams. You’ll help shape how we design, build and deliver modern financial solutions for businesses across Australia and New Zealand.
You’ll work on high‑impact projects at the intersection of financial services, technology and product innovation – from new products and features to strategic partnerships and go‑to‑market plans. You’ll have regular exposure to senior leaders and the opportunity to influence strategy, not just “paper the deal”.
You’ll also help us navigate a complex regulatory landscape so our financial services operations stay compliant and customer‑centric. Your work will support MYOB’s focus on delivering outstanding outcomes for our customers and partners.
What will keep you busy...
Act as the primary legal advisor for MYOB’s financial services and payments products across Australia and New Zealand
Advise on financial services law and regulation (including AFSL/ACL, credit, lending, payments and superannuation) and helping the business understand and apply regulatory obligations in a practical way
Prepare, assessing and negotiating a range of financial services and commercial contracts, including partnership, referral, distribution, payments, acquirer, data sharing and integration agreements
Collaborate with product and commercial teams on new products and features, integrations, partnerships and renewals, and providing clear, options‑based recommendations on structure, risk allocation, IP, data and incentives
Work closely with risk and compliance teams on regulatory change, incidents and audits – providing legal input while they own execution, monitoring and reporting
Brief and collaborat with specialist external counsel on complex financial services issues and turning their advice into clear, actionable recommendations for MYOB teams
Manage broader commercial and technology matters (SaaS, IP, data and privacy, procurement, marketing and consumer law) as part of a small, high‑performing in‑house team
Contribute to templates, playbooks and AI‑enabled workflows that streamline deal cycles, improve consistency and lift the impact of the legal function across the business

Tech‑savvy and commercially minded, comfortable partnering with product, tech and data teams and using AI‑enabled tools to enhance legal delivery
Strong judgement and the ability to balance legal risk with commercial considerations and great customer outcomes
An excellent communicator who builds trust quickly, influences senior stakeholders and translates complexity into clear, practical advice
Adaptable and proactive, thriving in fast‑paced environments and confident making well‑reasoned decisions with imperfect information
Dynamic, innovative and collaborative, with a genuine drive to improve how things are done and to share knowledge with others
Admitted to practise in Australia (New Zealand admission a bonus), with proven experience in corporate, commercial or financial services law (start‑up or scale‑up experience is a plus)
