About the role:

Cruise is seeking a hardworking and self-motivated Senior Legal Claims Analyst to join the Litigation, Employment & Investigations team in its San Francisco office. In this role, you will conduct critical fact-finding, analyze auto claims data, and provide pragmatic advice on a wide variety of on-road risk exposures. As part of the Legal team’s Product, Risk & Liability vertical, you will be a key collaborator and thought partner for the Cruise Risk team and various other business teams at Cruise. Day-to-day responsibilities Include:

  • Investigate on-road incidents and escalate potential legal risks and insights to the Litigation team.

  • Design and manage the Legal Claims Investigations program for special investigations concerning safety reports. 

  • Triage incoming requests for investigations, provide timely and pertinent analysis, and coordinate response efforts cross-functionally.

  • Discover and identify fraud trends and develop improvements for stronger policies, procedures, and regulation.

  • Support the Cruise Litigation team in successfully resolving vehicle-related claims, disputes, and litigation with creative and outside-the-box strategies, by analyzing data, identifying trends, and driving resolution decisions.

  • Assist in litigation management by conducting fact-finding investigations, collecting and retaining documents, managing document production, assisting with conducting witness interviews, and maintaining case files. 

  • Partner closely with the Cruise Risk team to design, develop, and build a best-in-class claims process that focuses on doing the right thing and putting our customers first, while maximizing efficiency and maintaining SLA performance targets.

  • Triage and manage law enforcement requests for the Litigation team. 

  • Work closely with the Legal Operations team on cross-functional programs, including matter management and metrics, budgeting, etc. 

You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 8+ years experience in claims investigations or 8+ years experience as a paralegal, including extensive experience in tort litigation and/or investigations work

  • Strong knowledge of the insurance industry

  • Strong knowledge of e-discovery tools and methods, and records/content management systems

  • Strong knowledge of GSuite, Google Vault, Slack, Jira, Confluence, and AWS/GCP

  • Collaborative by nature and able to build strong partnerships, with a responsive, service-oriented attitude

  • Exceptional writing and communications skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership

  • Experience managing structured and unstructured data

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize issues under time pressure

Bonus points!

  • Paralegal certification

  • Experience working in tech, especially for a large or scaling organization

  • Rideshare tech, auto liability, general liability and/or auto insurance experience

  • Experience using data analytics to inform claims valuation and resolution strategies

  • Understanding of autonomous vehicle technology

 

The salary range for this position is $53.00 - $77.00/hour. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
