The Challenge
We believe that technology is most powerful when it's used to build real solutions to the ways we live, act and collaborate on this planet. Our cross-discipline teams tackle big and diverse challenges with partners around the world, and no two projects are alike.
In 2024 we want to strengthen our open source presence and unlock the future of the data economy, by contributing to the Eclipse Dataspace Components (EDC) and Eclipse Tractus-X ecosystem. These open source efforts are the technological backbone for the success of open and collaborative data spaces that facilitate data exchange between organisations whilst preserving digital sovereignty and privacy. They are key to making our industries more resilient, competitive and sustainable.
The objective would be to actively contribute required features to the EDC Connector and Tractus-X open-source project. This role focuses heavily on Java development, open source contributions, and building the essential building blocks for data exchange.
These open-source engagements are extremely exciting because:
- you will be paid to work purely on open source;
- you will be challenged to build robust and scalable software that will be used by millions;
- you will be involved in a lot of strategic decisions;
- you will be one of the main contributors giving Think-it and yourself a lot of visibility within the European tech community;
- you will collaborate with numerous stakeholders from different leading industries.
We're looking for an experienced software engineer with a solid background in Java and software architecture and the skills necessary to solve problems and delight users internally and externally.
Your key responsibilities
- Contribute to the EDC Connector and/or Tractus-X open source projects, delivering end-to-end solutions based on user requirements and objectives.
- Build reusable, scalable and reliable software solutions with a focus on Java development.
- Build technical documentation for other developers and users, and contribute to Think-it's internal knowledge and codebases.
- Mentor and support junior engineers in their partner projects, learning goals, and performance assessment processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders from various leading industries to ensure the success of data exchange initiatives.
20%: Up to you! What are you passionate about? What do you want to learn, and where else would you like to contribute?
