We’re seeking a talented Senior Interaction/Motion Designer to join our Design Foundations team. In this role, you will be responsible for defining how our brand is represented through movement in our product. This will involve collaborating with cross-functional partners across EPD to help bring the product vision to life. The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating prototypes highlighting micro-interactions and animations with high-fidelity execution. You will also be expected to collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor other designers on motion principles, and push the boundaries of motion design to contribute to our design systems and elevate our product experiences.

As a Senior Interaction/Motion Designer, you will significantly contribute to the company's design culture, innovation, and long-term business success. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, design expertise, time-management skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive design environment.

IMPORTANT: This role is hybrid and available to candidates in San Francisco, Seattle and New York only.

Responsibilites

  • Partner with product designers to quickly prototype new features and improvements, with an emphasis on improving motion and interaction-based capabilities, ensuring animations align with our visual style, interaction goals and storytelling objectives.
  • Enhance the overall experience and push the boundaries of motion interaction to visualize and bring concepts to life. Collaborate closely with engineers, product designers, content designers, researchers, product managers, operations, and leadership.
  • Test, learn and recommend best practices on how motion and interaction help our users comprehend their product experience and take action. Test your designs and partner with data and research to understand their impact. Iteratively refine your work based on user feedback, technical feasibility, and design considerations, ensuring alignment with product goals and user needs.
  • Work closely with engineers and data scientists to explore technical feasibility, address implementation challenges, and seamlessly integrate prototypes into product development.
  • Partner with research and sales to demonstrate new features and for refinement.
  • Proactively build a motion and interaction-based system with guidance on when and why tactics are appropriate through our design system ensuring cohesion across platforms and touchpoints.
  • Help educate design, product, and other partners on what's possible. Keep up with emerging motion and interaction

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Motion, Prototyping, or Product Design-related roles.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing mastery in animation principles, timing, easing, and spatial relationships, with the ability to translate static design into dynamic experiences.
  • Proficiency in designing mid to high-fidelity prototypes, including conceptual animations and functional demos.
  • Working knowledge of Figma, Lottie, Rive, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.
  • Familiarity with tools like Principle, Origami, Framer, or GSAP, and 3D animation software like Spline or Cinema 4D is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability, interpreting complex requirements with elegant design solutions.
  • Proactively sets and achieves goals, driving projects forward with initiative and accountability.
  • Experience contributing to and maintaining a design system and understanding of basic WCAG guidelines.
  • Ability to mentor and guide others in motion design principles.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, effectively articulating design rationale and confidently presenting to diverse stakeholders.

Project Details

  • Duration: 4 months (targeting January 2 start date)
  • Commitment: 40 hours per week
  • Location: Hybrid, must be located in San Francisco, New York or Seattle.
  • Work Authorization: You must be based in and eligible to work in one of the following locations: United States

Portfolio Interview
If everything aligns on the Phone Screen, we schedule a second interview, our Portfolio Interview. On this call, we will ask you to walk through one of your case studies in order to evaluate your work, strategy, and execution.

Client Interview 
The next step would be to present our assessment of the talents candidacy to our clients. Should they decide to move forward, we will schedule interviews with the candidate and the hiring team to review their work, strategy, and execution.
