Senior Human Resources Coordinator, Workers Compensation 

Summary:

In this role, you will provide administrative support to ensure seamless workers’ compensation and leave of absence experiences for our teammates. You will also support the development and execution of critical HR processes and administrative tasks under intermittent supervision. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Administer workers compensation and leave of absence processes from start to finish, in compliance with all relevant labor laws as well as Cortica’s defined policies, procedures, and core values 
  • Serve as the main point of contact for teammates with workers’ compensation and leave of absence-related support needs, and respond to their requests in a courteous, professional, and personalized manner 
  • Interface with workers compensation insurance representatives and claims adjusters, report incidents as needed, respond to requests with pertinent information in a timely fashion, and bring claims to resolution 
  • Develop strategies for enhancing Cortica’s workers’ compensation and leave of absence programs, including processes and materials designed to support and educate teammates, minimize costs, and facilitate teammates' return to work 
  • Facilitate HR training sessions relevant to workers’ compensation and leaves of absence 
  • Complete other tasks and projects as assigned, including those related to wage and hour compliance, leaves, accommodations, workers compensation, and HR systems

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

The environmental factors described here are representative of those that may be present in the workplace while the team member performs the essential functions of this job. 

Office or Home Office Environment: 

  • Work involves sitting most of the workday greater than 50% of the time 
  • Walking and standing are required only occasionally 
  • Required activities: 
  • Communicating over phone and video call 
  • Typing and applying pressure with the fingers and palm 
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken and written word 
  • Conveying detailed or important spoken instructions to customers and other workers accurately, clearly, and at times, quickly 
  • Hearing: Perceiving nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information in oral communication, and to make the discriminations sound.  
  • Repetitive motion: Substantial repetitive movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers  
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally with force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body 
  • Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading, primarily on a computer monitor 
  • Occasional travel required for offsite meetings and events (normally less than 10% of the time) 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Passion for building enhanced processes and practices, and for operating in an environment that is fluid and entrepreneurial 
  • 2+ years of case management experience 
  • Knowledge of employment law (federal, state and local), employment legislation, and compliance 
  • Customer service-oriented – driven to find the best solution for everyone 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deliver a range of messages in a professional and compassionate manner, using an appropriate tone 
  • Outstanding organizational skills with strong attention to detail 
  • Self-starter who can work reliably in a remote setting 
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and trustworthiness when dealing with sensitive and confidential information 
  • Proficiency in Excel 
  • Experience with UKG (preferred)

  • Keep patients, teammates, and other stakeholder information confidential, and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes as required by HIPAA 
  • Comply with all HIPAA regulations regarding corporate integrity, and security obligations Report unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful behavior or activity 
  • Comply with all job relevant OSHA regulations and regularly scheduled trainings 
  • Comply with all regularly scheduled harassment trainings

The base pay rate for this opening is $28.05 an hour.
