The Senior GL Accountant is responsible to prepare the general ledger for monthly, quarterly and annual closing. This role is responsible for complete, accurate and timely submission to the global Corporate Accounting department according to the internal reporting deadlines. 

You will be part of our Global Accounting Shared Service Center. As a key member of the General Ledger Accounting team, you will collaborate closely with various finance departments across the company and be essential to comply with local regulations. This position reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger ensuring compliance with the Company’s accounting guidelines. 

This role is also considered the local expert, who takes responsibility for the adjustments required to comply with local GAAP compared to IFRS Accounting standards and to comply with local tax regulations. 

What you’ll do:

  • Preparing account reconciliations and the necessary documentation following the internal processes and  policies in a timely matter and investigating deviations as assigned
  • Collaborating with other departments such as HR and Controlling to obtain necessary information to record monthly, quarterly or annual accruals, allocations, provisions, valuations and other adjustments 
  • Taking responsibility for the usage of the individual general ledger accounts and that the journals are in line with EFG’s Accounting policies 
  • Running the depreciation calculation on the fixed assets and recording them on the general ledger accounts  
  • Preparing monthly inter-company bookings and reconciliations in accordance with the internal process and policies working closely with the Global inter-company Manager. 
  • Preparing other related accounting duties as assigned
  • Contributing to continuous process improvement of processes and the workflow quality
  • Assist with the maintenance and improvement of the internal control environment and external audit procedures, as applicable
  • Executing HGB adjustments as needed to ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of general accounting experience, background in public accounting, Big 4 is a plus 
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing journal entities, background in preparation of HGB reporting  is a plus 
  • Working knowledge of German tax laws and HGB
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Timely submission of monthly accounting records, tax declarations (VAT, WHT and CIT) and HGB statements

Bonus Experience: 

  • Familiarity with IFRS accounting principles and HGB regulations.
  • Key understanding of business operations.
  • Working knowledge of SAP S/4Hana public cloud.
  • Bilanzbuchhalter
