Senior Game Designer (Assassin's Creed)

Responsibilities:

  • Pitch, design and prototype game features;
  • Create and maintain design documentation, including feature metrics, specification and guidelines;
  • Implement, balance and bug fix gameplay features by using inhouse game engine.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure the implementation of systems into actual gameplay maintaining the overall balance between multiple gameplay systems.
  • Work with the design leadership, design team, artists, code, and animation to deliver game designs that epitomize the creative vision of the game.
  • Research subject matter relating to the design objective in an effort to ensure the authenticity of the experience.
  • You will be expected to own game designs from conception to the final stages of polish, facilitating communication and coordinating departments to ensure the vision is clearly understood.
  • Be a positive influence on the entire team and as a Designer, evangelize the ultimate promise to deliver “fun”.
  • Proactively seek out opportunities to identify and deal with issues before they arise.
  • Ability to self-critique and accept outside critique.  The more feedback you receive, the more you can tailor your work towards what is best for the game.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to keep an open mind to coworker’s ideas, incorporating suggestions when applicable.
  • Participate in the research and development of new tools related to game design and pipeline.
  • Contribute to establishing and enforcing consistent design practices, constraints, and metrics throughout projects.
  • Mentor other designers and lead by example.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Enthusiasm and desire to work in the game development industry;
  • Ability and desire to work in creative and collaborative teams;
  • Proficiency in basic software such as word processing, spreadsheets, etc.;
  • Excellent knowledge of game engine and scripting languages;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills;
  • Excellent knowledge and strong experience of computer and video games;
  • Ability to manage his/her own time and work within tight deadlines;
  • At least five years of experience in a game designer role
  • Extensive experience of balancing complex game systems
  • Strong working knowledge of game design
  • Successful experience with an AAA title open world game would be a bonus
  • A diverse, high quality portfolio
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Experience in an Agile/SCRUM environment
