Senior Frontend Engineer - Training Platform

Our Teams
You’ll be part of a cross-functional team with a strong mission, empowered to shape their own roadmap, ship great quality code that makes an impact for their customers. Working with Engineering and Product leaders, you’ll drive a culture of empathy for customer experiences, experimentation, action, collaboration, growth, and learning with our teams.

This role sits in Training Platform, a team with ambitious goals this year. Training Platform is currently undergoing a significant transformation phase in the SC Training product with the aim of enhancing the customer experience, as well as improving product and engineering functionalities. Not only is the team focused on enhancing the performance and scalability of the product, but they are also dedicated to equipping product and engineering teams with superior technologies and tools to facilitate these improvements. Throughout the year, the team will be migrating SC Training services into SC Platform infrastructure, integrating relevant services into SC shared services, and introducing Kafka capabilities to the SC Training platform. Further developments are anticipated for the following year. If these advancements are intriguing to anyone, the team welcomes feedback and engagement.

The Tech Stack
We use a modern technology stack including Swift/Kotlin/C++ (mobile); React.js (front end); C#/node.js/Go (back end); AWS/Kafka/Kubernetes (infrastructure) 

How You’ll Spend Your Time?
You’ll be empowered to manage complex architectural decisions and drive change
You’ll bring new technologies and tools when applicable to drive better engineering and product development experience
You’ll drive complex initiatives focused on release-safety, repeatability, and improving the way we do things
You’ll mentor colleagues, actively engage in building a culture of candid feedback, and help the engineering teams give and receive constructive feedback
You’ll build and maintain rapport with fellow colleagues

Essential Skills
Proficiency in React, TypeScript, and familiarity with different browsers and languages
Understanding of usability and design to create modular and flexible frontend components that can be easily combined and customized to meet evolving business needs
Depth of knowledge in a implementing composable frontend architecture solutionsAbility to own delivery of complex features, break down requirements and provide reasonable estimates
Ability to articulate effort vs impact tradeoffs
Ability to improve others’ ability to deliver great work
Ability to demonstrate SafetyCulture values (Think Customer, Open Honest Always, Better as a Team, Be Bold Bring Action)

Desirable Skills
Breadth of knowledge of a variety of platforms and approaches
Experience with front end edge infrastructure (e.g. AWS cloudfront, lambda)
Understanding of caching, server-side rendering, CDNsExperience with front end build pipelines and tooling, particularly around mono-repos and automation testing
Experience with product-led growth experiments, and techniques such as A/B testing
Working with service-oriented/microservice architecturesBuilding and running SaaS or cloud services at scale
