Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Manager to join our dynamic global Finance team in FairMoney. The ideal candidate will take up a critical multi-faceted role responsible for a wide range of responsibilities relating to FairMoney’s expansion into new countries. These responsibilities include financial controls, finalisation of financial statements, tax compliance, tax optimisation, statutory audits and aiding in international expansion efforts. This role also involves collaborating with consultants, auditors, and legal counsel to ensure the company’s financial health and compliance with legislation in various countries.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Controls :
- Design and implementation of financial controls.
- Implement and oversee the performance of bank and general ledger controls.
- Assume responsibility for the accuracy of the trial balance.
2. Taxation :
- Ensure compliance with local taxation laws and regulations, including income tax, stamp duty, VAT, withholding tax and payroll taxes.
- Optimise the taxation charge.
3. Annual financial statements :
- Prepare annual financial statements in alignment with IFRS and within Group and legislative deadlines.
- Engage and propose to the board the appointment of local auditors.
- Ensure the statutory audit of the annual financial statements is completed within Group and legislative deadlines.
4. Procurement :
- Ensure local service providers are properly engaged.
- Ensure spending is within the approved budgets / forecasts.
- Ensure the timely payment of vendor invoices / accounts.
- Optimise spending by finding ways of reducing cost.
5. Treasury :
- Manage the liquidity of each entity within the liquidity and capital requirements.
- Forecast requirements in the short / medium term.
- Manage and optimise the relationships with local banks
6. Financial Analysis:
- Preparation of monthly management accounting – including the preparation of cost notes.
- Provide insightful financial data to support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA) viewed favourably
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, with a focus on financial management.
- Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Understanding of banking and financial services business model and unit economics.
