The Senior Financial Accountant assists the Financial Controller in delivering a timely set of financials for the organisation by being responsible for the core financial accounting duties. The role will drive a strong corporate governance framework and business process improvement.
You will also demonstrate the leadership capability to lead and develop a highly effective team.
Some other duties you may perform:
- Lead the month end process, deal with any issues as they arise and, where relevant escalate to the Financial Controller
- Manage the preparation and consolidation of timely and accurate month end Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy in costings for both Profit and Loss and Balance Sheets at a cost centre and project level
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register and associated asset accounts
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and practices, and contribute to process improvements
- Provide guidance to the Financial Accountants and Accounts Payables team such as coding of invoices and capitalisation of costs
- Assist in the preparation of regular cash flow forecasts
- Manage the preparation and submission of monthly BAS
- Coordinate and prepare IFRS 16 (Lease Reporting) on a monthly basis
- Assist in the preparation of annual Statutory Accounts, Annual Financial Statements and Income tax Return, including all working papers for audit purposes
- Assist in the regular stock take process and ensure strong inventory management in collaboration with the Service department
- Manage the Financial Accountants
- Asist in the completion of annual workers compensation renewal returns
- Respond to financial inquiries by gathering and interpreting data
- Liaise and assist in dealing with external auditors
- Participate in rolling out a new ERP system
- Undertake other duties commensurate with the position as directed by the Financial Controller or Executive
What makes a great Senior Financial Accountant at TOMRA:
- CA/CPA qualified
- Proven experience of 6-10 years in a similar role
- Strong grasp of financial accounting, accountant standards, and the ability to understand and drill down through relevant financial reports
- Advanced skills in Excel
- Communication skills appropriate for various audiences with differing degrees of financial knowledge
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines while remaining calm under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a productive team member
- Experience with mid to large size accounting and reporting systems
