Senior Environmental Specialist

Our partner seeks a Senior Environmental Specialist based in Indianapolis, IN, to manage environmental permitting activities for electricity transmission and distribution projects, oversee various environmental assessments, and ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead environmental permitting activities for electricity transmission and distribution construction projects.
  • Prepare and coordinate environmental consultants for assessments and permit applications.
  • Develop and enhance management programs for prioritizing and obtaining permits.
  • Provide environmental support to T&D teams, including due diligence and waste management.
  • Interact with local, state, and federal government agencies regarding environmental aspects of projects.
  • Coordinate with EHS Analyst and personnel to ensure permit compliance.
  • Support Planning, Siting, and Outreach teams.
  • Potentially support environmental construction permitting for renewable and thermal generation projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum seven years of recent environmental construction permitting experience in Indiana and Ohio.
  • Knowledge of environmental construction permitting regulations and laws.
  • Familiarity with regulatory consultations and cultural resources management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in a Union environment.
  • Valid Indiana or Ohio driver's license.

Preferred Skills:

  • Master's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in environmental construction permitting for T&D and renewable energy.
  • Experience with City of Indianapolis Drainage Permits.
  • Experience in land acquisition environmental due diligence and waste management.

Benefits

  • Primary locations: Indianapolis, Indiana, or Dayton, Ohio. Hybrid/Remote work considered.
