As a Corporate Engineering Senior Software Engineer at Mercari India, you will be at the forefront of designing, developing, and optimizing internal systems to enhance the efficiency and security of our global operations. This crucial role encompasses more than traditional software development, emphasizing IT process automation and security operations enhancement.
Your responsibilities will involve streamlining business processes, fortifying our security measures, and contributing to broader improvements across our global IT and security framework in collaboration with our IT and security teams in Japan and the US. This focus on automation and streamlining is crucial for driving broader improvements across our global IT and security framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive fundamental improvements to IT operations and the implementation of security best practices through engineering, in collaboration with the Mercari Japan IT and Security teams.
- Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in IT and Security operations, and design and implement effective solutions
- Automate manual processes and operational tasks, focusing on optimizing configurations for Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Mobile Device Management (MDM), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Identity Provider (IDP) platforms.
- Develop and maintain IT & security standards for corporate IT infrastructure.
- Foster a culture of innovation by staying abreast of technological advancements and continually seeking opportunities to implement new solutions that drive the business forward
Mandatory Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in the design and development large-scale IT and/or Security systems.
- Experience in programming with one or more languages, including but not limited to Go, Python, or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with standard software development tools, such as Git, GitHub, CI/CD tools, and shell scripting.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) like Terraform or equivalent technology
- Experience in writing design proposals and reaching agreements with stakeholders
- Experience in working with the cloud (GCP, AWS or Azure)
- Good problem-solving skills, and ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field, or equivalent work experience
Requirements
Desired Qualifications:
- Team-leading/management experience
- Understanding and ability to explain and apply core computer security concepts such as the CIA triad, principle of least privilege, authentication vs. authorization, etc.
- Solid understanding of zero-trust architecture principles and their practical application within organizational IT environments.
- Extensive knowledge of IT infrastructure (TCP/IP, networks, servers, authentication, directory services, endpoint management)
- Experience building, administrating, and improving IT security solutions (IAM, MDM, EDR, DLP, etc.) is a plus.
- Open-source software development experience and/or participation in open-source communities.
- [Optional] Language skills: conversational Japanese a plus
