In this role, you will own the engineering strategy for Ads Targeting products that are critical to scaling our business and meeting the needs of tens of thousands of advertisers of Reddit's native targeting products and targeting platform. You will charter both ML and heuristic backed features that will infer and target highly qualified users and content to maximize outcomes for a varied group of advertisers.You will also guide the vision of targeting platform that would be responsible for creating and defining shared standards, low-latency infrastructure, and libraries for all Ads Targeting initiatives that drive quicker iteration, better observability, and a unified targeting experience. In addition to managing the targeting infrastructure, this team is also tasked with overseeing third-party audience products, developing audience size forecasting infrastructure, and implementing solutions for user targeting privacy.
The ideal candidate understands the value that Ads can bring to our users, advertisers, and Reddit. You’ll achieve this by working with a core team of Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, Product Marketers and UX designers.
As the Senior Engineering Manager of the Ads Targeting team. You will work closely with Engineering Managers, Product owners and Data Scientists from our Ads team to 1) set up the vision and product strategy of Ads native targeting products, platform and automation, 2) Optimize existing targeting products 3) Provide new targeting products to reach relevant audiences. Targeting products requires rich user, content & advertiser models to match a relevant user with a campaign/advertiser. This person is an industry leader in the Machine Learning optimization domain & marketplace dynamics with a solid technical background, strong business acumen, and excellent cross-functional stakeholders management skills.
What You’ll Do
Ads Targeting Technical Vision
Your primary mission will be to build new and optimize 1P and Automation targeting products for Ads Targeting that can scale with our ads business over the next several years. There is plenty of room for guiding and setting technical vision that will have a huge impact on our business.
Execution
You will own the execution of your team’s roadmap and be accountable for consistent, predictable delivery. You will ruthlessly prioritize both planned projects and emergent asks. You will coach EMs & Tech Leads on project management and empower your team to execute autonomously. You will identify risks and proactively communicate them both internally and externally.
Recruiting
Ads Targeting will grow quickly during your tenure at Reddit, and our engineering managers are directly responsible for scaling up their teams. You will identify your team’s needs, write job descriptions, source, interview, and help close candidates. You will have the support of our incredible recruiting team to bring diverse and talented engineers into Reddit.
