Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America, Inc. (MBRDNA) is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Eng Testing & Validation to join the US Experience team. This is a full-time, exempt position at the MBRDNA regional office in Long Beach, CA.

The US Experience team drives to establish Mercedes-Benz as a technology leader in the US luxury segment. Our team develops, tests, and validates US Software applications to deliver the best US customer experience possible. We perform product research to influence and drive innovation and improve vehicle features at different touch points throughout the customer journey. We all contribute to a combined One Voice US strategy that drives impactful propositions that create market pull and enhance our customer’s experience.
 
The testing roles and responsibilities are in End-to-End connected car testing from a customer’s point of view. Be a part of our testing team during the development of the next generation of the MB.OS system with the test focus in cloud-based Mercedes me connect platform/feature integration (Remote commands, App testing, streaming services, …).

The candidate will plan the test scope for the team, defining and updating test cases, execute test cases and follow a predefined testing strategy for exploratory testing. The testing will be conducted with our vehicles and in our test laboratory on test benches, and the focus will be Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. Most testing locations are in the Southern California area however, national/international travel is required in some cases.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, lead, and perform End-2-End Testing for Connected Car services in close collaboration with local and international suppliers and stakeholders
  • Lead the creation, execution, and maintenance of functional test cases and test scripts
  • Support the planning, organization, and execution of test sessions with local and global teams (prioritization, support capacity planning, coverage analysis, risk mitigation,…)
  • Document findings, track defects, and re-run failed test cases or scripts in accordance with customer requests
  • Management of test data and component variants in cooperation with the release management and CFOs
  • Provide support and review of supplier-driven or third party testing results
  • Provide prescribed reports and maintain effective communication to all relevant stakeholders
  • Coordinates between offboard and onboard telematics testing to ensure a continues efficiency improvement
  • Takes initiative to identify, communicate, and execute significant high-impact changes or improvements
  • Acts as a mentor to other less experienced test engineers by providing guidance, coaching and training
  • Planning and supporting mostly local and occasional long distance test drives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field of study
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in the development or validation of embedded systems in the automotive or consumer electronics industries, or similar experience
  • Ability to recognize risks in telematics development and use this information to prioritize tasks, more specifically related to cloud and backend connectivity related tasks
  • Ability to organize and execute test events
  • Enhanced project coordination skills
  • Frequent use of speech, vision, hearing, use of hands for computer use and presentations
  • Frequent sitting, standing and reaching with hands
  • Valid Passport
  • Valid US Drivers License 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ISTQB certified tester/test analyst/test manager or similar skills
  • Previous automotive OEM or Tier1 supplier work experience
  • Experience with embedded software and automotive solutions
  • Experience with software development life cycle and/or agile methodology
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001-2015

The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, job-related education, skills, and experience, geographic location, and market conditions. The current salary range for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future: $109,100 - $136,300.
