We are looking for a Senior NPI engineer to our Oulu office. The NPI Engineer is responsible for design and implementation of needed tools and assembly jigs in the production line. This role requires a strong understanding of both product design and manufacturing processes, ensuring smooth transitions from product development to full-scale production. The NPI Engineer works closely with design, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure products meet customer requirements and are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
What You will do:
- Mechanical Design: Design and prototype production tools and machines that are needed for Oura products manufacturing process.
- Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation (3D and 2D drawings), including design specifications, test reports, and assembly instructions
- Process Design and Improvement: Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for new products, ensuring that they are efficient, scalable, and cost-effective.
- Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis: Identify, analyze, and resolve any issues or bottlenecks that arise during the new product introduction process. Use root cause analysis and problem-solving tools to address any technical or production issues.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Quality Engineering team to define and implement inspection criteria, testing protocols, and process controls to ensure product quality and compliance with standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives, applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve production efficiency.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing, validation, and troubleshooting of production tools to ensure they meet performance and safety standards
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to develop test plans
- Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities for cost optimization in the mechanical design or production processes while maintaining product quality and performance
- Traveling to suppliers and factories
We would love to have You in our team, if You have
- M.Sc. or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5+ years of experience in new product introduction, manufacturing engineering, or product development. Experience in a fast-paced, high-tech, or high-volume manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, such as injection molding, CNC machining, stamping, assembly, and testing.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC), Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
- PMP, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or Lean Manufacturing certification will be considered as a benefit
