About the role
What you will do:
- Hands on experience in Designing electromechanical products
- Good exposure on UL/IEC and related standards. Experience on UL1741, UL9540 & UL9540A will be an added advantage
- Good Exposure on plastics, Sheetmetal, casting part design and manufacturing process
- Good understanding on cable assemblies, ECAD/MCAD integrations
- Good exposure on structural and thermal design considerations
- Good Exposure on DFX for high volume production
- Good exposure on prototype techniques for Design development and verification
- Expertise in SolidWorks and EPDM. Knowledge on any other CAD packages will be an added advantage.
- Exposure on CAE tools is an added advantage.
- Designing new components and products, sometimes as sole contributor but often as part of a team of contributors
- Reviewing and analyzing solutions to achieve the best outcome for performance/cost/schedule
- Testing proof-of-concepts and prototypes for performance
- Failure analysis and root cause identification
- Component review and approval, including global travel to be on-site at vendors during pre- production
- Generating own (and reviewing others’) documentation, including concept proposals, analysis reports, component specifications, review minutes
- Ensure quality by design
Who you are and what you bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ yrs experience OR Masters in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ yrs industry work experience in product development
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) of parts made through injection moulding, sheet metal, stamping, milling/turning
- Experience using Computer-Aided development tools (SolidWorks)
- Clear communication - verbal and written
- Experience in the design and sustaining activities on high-volume products (+500k pa) would be a plus and also previous employment in high-power and consumer products industries would be a plus.
