The energy engineers support the Performance Contracting (PC) team, which focuses on optimization and energy efficiency of existing buildings. In this role you will perform ASHRAE Level I & II audits assessing, identifying, and analyzing energy savings opportunities in existing buildings, develop scopes of work for identified Energy Efficiency Measures (EEMs), analyze building operation via building DDC trending and/or deploying data loggers, calculate energy savings for identified EEMs, develop Measurement and Verification plans, and work to secure available incentives, rebates, and grants.  The analysis of the buildings and energy systems will be published in a Benchmark report, Preliminary Scoping Assessment, Preliminary Audit, or an Investment Grade Audit. You will attend customer meetings and be prepared to articulate your findings and proposed EEMs directly to the customer. You will also have a firm understanding of the Washington State Clean Buildings Performance Standard and be proficient with the compliance requirements.

Know and keep up to date on industry standards, laws and regulations related to Energy Engineering and PC. Be familiar with Washington State Department of Enterprise Services (DES) regulations and procedures.

Top deliverables in the first year to be a hero:

  • Foster Team Growth and Collaboration: Lead by example to cultivate a culture of growth, collaboration, and inclusion among team members.
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor Energy Engineers and Design Engineers in conducting Energy Audits, Benchmarks, and performing energy savings calculations.
  • Deliver High-Quality Audits: Complete assignments such as Preliminary Scoping Assessments, Preliminary Audits, Seattle Building Tune-ups, or Investment Grade Audits promptly and with precision. Stay informed about the upcoming Seattle Building Emissions Performance Standard (BEPS).
  • Optimize Processes: Develop tools and streamline processes to accelerate the creation of reports and Investment Grade Audits.
  • Budget Management: Monitor hourly budgets closely and ensure tasks and projects are completed within the allocated time and resources.
  • Build Trusted Relationships: Demonstrate authentic respect for colleagues and a genuine commitment to serving internal and external customers, fostering trust and strong partnerships.
