- Direct design work on customer projects.
- Attend specification meetings with customers, providing authoritative contribution regarding the Electrical design aspects of the project.
- Communicate with other design engineers (mechanical and electrical) the design on projects to ensure that these are fully coordinated.
- Contributing creative ideas.
- Completing engineering design on time to the project plan.
- Be aware of cost targets in design, purchase, and assembly.
- Document and archiving all project related material.
- Carry out risk assessments on machinery.
- Attend project meetings.
- Provide assistance to Assembly personnel during the build phase of a project.
- Identify, research, and evaluate new technology.
- Ensure that the electrical aspects of the machinery are in compliance with the requirements of the European Community (CE), National Electric Code, Canadian Standards Association Codes, and Underwriters Laboratory.
- Provide occasional phone and on-site technical support.
- Take the lead on projects when multiple engineers are working together.
Duties
- Design Electrical control systems using AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN.
- Write and develop PLC code for machine control using Rockwell and Beckhoff.
- Write and develop Servo Motion code for machine control using Rockwell and Beckhoff.
- Write and develop HMI code for operator interfaces using Rockwell and Zenon.
- Write and develop Safety controller code for the machine safety using Pilz and Phoenix.
- Produce Bill of Materials using Agile product lifecycle management software.
- Commissioning of packaging machinery at Syntegon and customers site.
Specific Features
- Valid passport to enable travel globally as required.
- Valid driving license.
- Willing to travel domestically and internationally.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- 10 years extensive Electrical and Software Engineering experience, if possible within Packaging industry.
- Engineering Experience in capital equipment ideally broad experience within Packaging industry.
- MS office package.
- Effective negotiation skills.
- Troubleshooting, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Methodical and clear reporting.
- Communication/Cooperation (Advanced).
- Programming using Rockwell, Beckhoff and Zenon software.
- Engineering Design using AutoCAD electrical or EPLAN.
- Ability to design for manufacture and assembly.
- Working knowledge of applicable standards and testing requirements, specifically European Community (CE), National Electric Code (NFPA 70 and NFPA 79), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and Underwriters Laboratory (UL).
- Trained in using performance safety levels and the use of Sistema.
