About the role
This role is an exciting and high-visibility position on our Marketing team – one that sits at the intersection of product, market intelligence and storytelling. You will become the editorial voice for Zyte as a company.
As Sr. Editor, Content & Editorial you will be responsible for all facets of our content creation process, ensuring it aligns with our business strategy and category position. Our millions of users, future customers and developer communities are reachable only with excellent content, so this role will transcend the traditional Content Marketing function with a heavy focus on excellence. The content we create must be of editorial-grade quality to reach our target audience.
This person will bring a strong Journalism/Corporate Communications background and a high proficiency in finding, eliciting and communicating strong stories to educate our customers, prospects and the market as a whole. We have a wealth of knowledge across our leadership, engineering and legal teams, and we need to get this information out of their heads and into the market.
As Zyte’s Sr. Editor, you will:
- Identify and create excellent editorial-grade content leveraging the expertise of our internal thought leaders across engineering, executive and legal teams
- Interview technical functions at Zyte and create excellent long- and short-form content to be used in anchor campaigns and company/employee social media and pitched to external publications
- Edit technical content from our Developer Advocates that helps our ICP do their jobs better
- Craft content that reinforces Zyte as the category leader
- Own the establishment and maintenance of our editorial voice and calendar
Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize, outline and create content to fuel our brand and demand campaign efforts
- Manage freelance content creators
- Create philosophical, product-agnostic content that is ‘TechCrunch’-ready (content that resonates and doesn’t come off too salesy)
- Develop and socialize Zyte’s editorial voice
- Consult internal thought leaders on their own content strategies, and ghostwrite as needed
- Manage the work done by all internal writers and own the process of getting content ready to ship
- Build, maintain and own an editorial calendar that maps back to our quarterly and bi-annual themes
- Execute the editorial calendar – meet your deadlines
- Build and maintain the Zyte content style guide
Requirements
- 5+ years of journalism/corporate communications and editorial experience
- A portfolio of content examples that reinforce your excellence in storytelling
- A natural curiosity that makes you a great interviewer
- The ability to elicit and identify story ideas that tie back to our product solutions and problems solved by our software
- The ability to develop a deep industry understanding and the ability to effectively communicate with developer and business leadership audiences
- Experience pitching stories internally
- Bonus: experience pitching stories to media outlets
