Fluence is seeking a highly motivated Senior Director to lead the development and management of Fluence’s Global Lab Strategy for our BESS product line. This role will work will report to the VP of Systems and Hardware Engineering and will collaborate with multi-functional groups to assemble requirements and work jointly with internal and external site planners to craft and implement lab strategy build outs. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, proactive, and a skilled problem solver who can adapt and work effectively in a multi-functional International Corporate environment. Along with demonstrating a consistent track record in leading and delivering lab infrastructure and strategy with clear technical competence including understanding a variety of different types of lab environments (Fire testing, Grid inter-connect, BESS testing, Battery Cell and Module testing)
In this position you will work with multi-functional groups to assemble requirements and work jointly with 3rd party contractors to craft and implement lab strategy build outs in multiple global locations.
You will also have the opportunity to work on technology and help to drive the innovation of our future labs that will be used by engineers to develop our next generation products.
As the Senior Director of Global Labs at Fluence you will:
- Demonstrate a consistent track record in leading and delivering strategies with clear technical competence including understanding a variety of different types of lab environments (Fire testing, Grid inter-connect, BESS testing, Battery Cell and Module testing)
- Work closely with multi-functional engineering groups to collect and understand their requirements for lab capabilities.
- Review our product roadmap and guide lab requirements to support future programs
- Identify needs for labs for engineering engagement on customer systems and define infrastructure requirements
- Work with groups to ensure their requirements are accurately translated into infrastructure needs
- Partner with Project Management teams (internal and external) to design labs to meet the infrastructure requirements of engineering groups
- Engage with IT Networking groups to resolve equipment needs to be ordered and deployed in the labs
- Host status update meetings
- Commission labs and verify that design requirements have been met
What will you bring to Fluence?
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in laboratory design and construction, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale, complex construction projects in a scientific or research environment.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards for laboratory facilities.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Financial acumen, with experience in budget development and financial management.
- Ability to travel internationally as required.
- Ability to work concurrently with multiple groups and projects in the organization
- Good attention to detail, as well as strong partnership and communications
