Position Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic Senior Director of Engineering to manage and expand our office in Pune.
In this role, you will oversee people management, drive key technical initiatives, foster a customer-focused culture, and ensure collaboration across departments. You will also maintain high-security standards, lead talent acquisition efforts, manage vendor relationships, and collaborate with key stakeholders. You will report directly to the VP of Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and People Management: Build and nurture high-performing, motivated R&D teams. Focus on people development by creating a supportive, growth-oriented, and collaborative environment.

Technical Initiatives: Drive technical initiatives in Pune in partnership with the global Engineering leadership team. Highlight initiatives from the team in Pune.

Customer Focus: Partner with product and customer-facing teams to deliver solutions that meet customer needs. Instill a customer-first mindset across the organization.

Operational Excellence: Lead day-to-day operations in the Pune office, focusing on timely and high-quality execution. Set performance metrics and ensure the team meets high standards.

Hiring and Talent Acquisition: Work with the People & Talent team to attract and hire top R&D talent. Provide career development opportunities to retain and grow talent.

Vendor and Partnership Management: Manage relationships with external vendors, ensuring quality and security. Negotiate contracts and oversee vendor performance.

Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with Product, Customer Success, IT, and Security departments to ensure project alignment and successful outcomes.

Stakeholder Management: Serve as the point of contact for global leadership, providing updates on the Pune site’s progress and strategic goals. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Teamwork and Collaboration: Promote a culture of open communication and collaboration across teams, both locally and globally.

Security Leadership: Ensure security best practices are embedded throughout the development and operational processes.
Must Haves

Experience: Minimum of fifteen years in engineering, with at least five years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Director of Engineering or Senior Engineering Manager), ideally in SaaS, security, or fraud prevention.

Technical Expertise: Strong software engineering, architecture, and distributed systems background. Experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure), API development, data security, and scaling engineering systems.

Leadership Skills: Proven ability to build and lead high-performing, cross-functional teams. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture.

Customer-Centric: Strong focus on delivering customer-centric solutions. Ability to gather customer insights and incorporate them into engineering practices.

Execution Focus: Experience managing complex technical projects with multiple stakeholders, from concept to delivery. Proficiency in Agile methodologies.

Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Experience in managing external vendors and stakeholders. Strong negotiation and vendor performance management skills.

Security Mindset: Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices and the ability to integrate security protocols into the development lifecycle.

Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple time zones with global teams: demonstrating flexibility in working hours to accommodate international stakeholders and project timelines.

Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders globally.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred but not required.

Location: Pune, India. Required to work onsite most days, with collaboration across different time zones.
