We have an exciting opportunity on our Software team for a strong leader with exceptional development/research skills in the field of Computer Graphics. The Senior Director will be part of the senior leadership team in the Split Compute organization. They will be primarily responsible to lead and drive the research and development of multiple core graphics components across multiple organizations spanning beyond the Split Computeteam. The candidate’s responsibilities extend to working closely with the executive team to establish the scope and schedule of the product critical projects, drive the formation of technical teams and ensure a cohesive alignment of all essential technical expertise by setting optimal communication strategies. The candidate must come with strong expertise in at least one of the following core technical areas of real time rendering, graphics systems, and distributed systems. The candidate will take an active deciding role in release planning, scheduling, and assigning individual developers within their technical team. Responsibilities
Provide leadership and mentoring to the research and development team within the Graphics group
Lead the research and development effort of advanced product-critical graphics and distributed systems components
Lead a team of engineers and researchers and manage them to deliver the features from research to product
Define and execute the roadmap of new features
Actively contribute to Magic Leap Intellectual Property and publish the research findings in peer-reviewed conferences
Work hand-in-hand with the key stakeholders and developers across the company
Support overall research engineering and architecture efforts of graphics and distributed computing components
Act as a mentor and subject matter expert within the Split Compute team and with other key stakeholders
Qualifications
15+ years of working experience in Graphics product development and/or research
10+ years experience as a manager of managers and leading engineering organizations
Experience leading engineering teams from first concept to ship
Expert level in Vulkan/DirectX/OpenGL
Experience in distributed systems and client-server computing preferred
Experience in machine learning and perception preferred
Education
MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
Ph.D. is preferred

US Base Salary Range
$218,000—$311,000 USD
