Summary of Position:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate global marketing leader to play a critical role in enabling the successful launch of apitegromab, the company’s phase 3 candidate for the treatment of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). The Senior Director, Global Marketing - SMA will lead the development and execution of marketing strategies to support the successful launch and growth of apitegromab across countries globally. This position will play a pivotal role in shaping the brand while providing strategic input into its life cycle management in SMA. The role requires deep expertise in rare diseases, proven experience with ex-US country launches, and a collaborative mindset to work cross-functionally with local affiliates, medical, regulatory, and market access teams to bring apitegromab to patients. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role with a unique opportunity to lead in an entrepreneurial environment and effect the trajectory of the company’s first launch.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation of the global brand strategy for SMA, ensuring it reflects patient needs, market opportunities, and competitive differentiation. Ensure roll out of the global brand plan for apitegromab across the organization and partner with regional and local teams to adapt global strategies to meet local market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and healthcare system needs.
  • Accountable for providing strategic input into competitive strategy to address current and future competitors
  • Collaborate with R&D, medical affairs, and market access teams to shape the life cycle management of apitegromab in SMA
  • Develop and oversee the launch strategy and plan across local affiliates ensuring alignment with global objectives and launch readiness
  • Monitor and optimize launch performance through the robust development of launch performance dashboard, incorporating data-driven insights and best practices in collaboration with Market Insights lead
  • Support the development and launch of the global unbranded campaign and branded campaign tailored to market requirements
  • Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, and design teams to create cost-effective, scalable packaging solutions to meet relevant country requirements
  • Serve as the key marketing point of contact for local affiliates, fostering collaboration and alignment.
  • Support patient services tactics tailored to market requirements
  • Lead the development, execution and best practice sharing of global tactical plans

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years in pharmaceutical/biotech marketing, with experience in global or regional roles.
  • Proven track record of leading successful launches in Europe, preferably in rare diseases or neurology.
  • Expertise in SMA or related therapeutic areas is highly desirable.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and leadership skills.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency in multichannel marketing and campaign execution.
  • Knowledge of European regulatory and market access environments.
  • Patient-focused mindset with a passion for improving lives in rare diseases.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Collaborative and culturally aware, with the ability to build strong relationships across diverse teams and geographies
  • Team oriented and willingness to go the extra mile
  • Performance orientation and ability to drive, work and deliver along agreed timelines.
  • Readiness to travel (up to 30% of the time)
