About The Role

As the Senior Director of Engineering , Community & Mobile, you will lead and inspire the community product engineering and mobile engineering teams. You'll define and execute the strategic direction for our community-focused products and mobile applications, ensuring alignment with the company's goals and vision. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering innovation and delivering high-quality features that enhance user engagement and satisfaction.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Design, and other stakeholders to drive product roadmaps and deliver exceptional user experiences. Your ability to bridge technical and business worlds will ensure that we build scalable, user-centric solutions that meet market needs and drive growth.
  • Guide your teams in adopting best practices in software development, ensuring the technical architecture and design decisions support scalability, performance, and maintainability. You'll champion a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and technical mentorship within the team.
  • Focus on building and nurturing a high-performing engineering culture. You'll be responsible for hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers and leaders within your teams. Your commitment to diversity and inclusion will be key in fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Oversee the end-to-end engineering processes, from development to deployment and support. Implement metrics and monitoring systems to ensure product performance, reliability, and responsiveness to user needs. You will also manage budgeting and resource allocation efficiently to meet strategic goals.
  • Act as a key liaison between engineering and other departments, including marketing, sales, and customer support. You'll communicate technical challenges and solutions effectively to non-technical stakeholders and ensure that engineering efforts are aligned with customer and business priorities.

What You'll Bring

  • A commitment to add to our culture of DEI.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing engineering teams. Proven track record of leading successful engineering teams that have delivered complex, high-quality community-focused and mobile products.
  • Strong technical background in mobile and web technologies, with a deep understanding of iOS, Android, and web application development ecosystems. Familiarity with cloud services, scalable architecture, and agile development methodologies.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide teams. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, team building, and performance management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle challenges creatively and effectively. Adept at making data-driven decisions and prioritizing work to meet strategic goals.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and influence decision-making. Experience in stakeholder management and building consensus among diverse groups.
  • Proficiency in the following engineering competencies:
    • Software Development & writing code (Node.JS, Typescript, Javascript and iOS/Android)
    • Understanding code & debugging
    • Observability & telemetry
    • Software architecture & security
    • Technical Acumen
    • Software Strategy
    • Testing & Quality Enablement

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary Range*:  $244,500 - $366,800++

*Glassdoor base salaries are targeted to the market 75th percentile for technical roles and the 65th percentile for non-technical roles. In other words, 65-75% of comparable organizations in our industry will pay less.

Annual Bonus Target**: 25%

**Bonuses are paid in 6-month intervals, aligning with bi-annual performance reviews

***Restricted Stock Units (RSU) are awarded at hire and may be refreshed annually. Additionally, as a pay-for-performance company, RSU grant awards are presented bi-annually to exceptional performers.
