Job Overview
Coupang Eats Engineering builds various products & services for our Customers, Stores (Restaurants/Cafes), Couriers and internal operations. It’s a complex multi-faceted problem that requires optimization across the business (customer experience, merchant management, delivery efficiency & effectiveness) to provide fast and cost-effective experience to our customers and partners.
As an Sr. Engineering Director, you will lead the Delivery Logistics organization within Coupang Eats, where you will focus on optimization problems across customers, stores and delivery couriers. The challenges include optimizing customer delivery experience, courier management, courier assignments, geo fencing, store point of sale, cost optimizations, etc., all of which needs to happen real-time to ensure a seamless experience to our customers, stores and delivery couriers.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Provide leadership and technical direction to Delivery Logistics Engineering organization in Coupang Eats and ensure that our engineers are working on building scalable, extendable and fault-tolerant systems
- Hire the best leaders and experienced individual contributors to grow a high performance and impact-driven organization
- Be a thought leader and collaborate closely with Business, Product & Engineering leaders to identify opportunities to drive business growth and improve efficiencies across various aspects of delivery logistics
- Drive mission critical projects in collaboration with various stakeholders and engineering leaders to solve complex business problems
- Dive deep to solve critical system issues. Ideally identify them before they happen and device a plan to address them
- Foster a culture that continuously innovates through frequent product iterations (Agile/Scrum) and help the team develop their Agile practices further
- Drive and improve the operational excellence of your organization. Own definition, measurement, and reporting of operational metrics for your products & services
- Develop, mentor, and coach managers and tech leaders on career development and professional growth
Qualifications
- 10+ years of industry experience of increasing responsibility leading engineering teams
- 7+ years of experience in managing software development with hands-on architectural experience in delivering innovative products and mission critical systems. Experience in food delivery, last mile delivery/logistics, quick commerce and/or local mobility is highly preferred
- Demonstrated experience in creating a vision, influencing cross-functionally and driving a technology organization to meet ambitious goals
- Experience leading global distributed teams, with exceptional abilities to attract, recruit, retain and scale a high-performance engineering organization
- Hands on technical skills in designing, building and delivering scalable and highly available products & services. Experience working in Java stack, AWS cloud and big data
- Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive. High on bias for action
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor/Master/PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, or related field

Document Return Policy
- This notification is given pursuant to Article 11 (6) of the Fair Hiring Procedure Act.
