Business Insider is hiring a Director, Advertising Data Platforms to join our Ad Innovation team and lead our strategic vision and execution across all ad tech and data solutions.

The Role & Team:

As the Director, Advertising Data Platforms you will develop and implement a comprehensive ad tech strategy aligned with overall business goals. 

You will be responsible for identifying and adopting cutting-edge technologies and optimizing our partnerships with a variety of platforms to maximize revenue and advertiser engagement. You should have a strong command of advertising technology and in particular data solutions that drive revenue and help position Business Insider as a leader in the space. You are dynamic and can adapt to the ever changing ecosystem and environment of advertising technology and the platforms and partners that change alongside it. 

You are a master of cross-functional collaboration. In this role you will work with internal teams such as Ad Operations, Revenue Strategy, Marketing, Sales, and Product & Engineering, to ensure that the integration of selected solutions align with company strategy and all relevant stakeholders are included in the process.

This role reports directly to the VP, Ad Product Innovation and sits on the Ad Innovation team. This role will be remote or hybrid in NYC. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive ad tech strategy aligned with business goals that meets our current and future data and identity needs.
    • Establish a strategic roadmap for advertising solutions, including vendor selection and optimization strategies.
    • Manage and motivate our data operations and platform specialist, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Technology & Innovation:
    • Proactively manage the ad tech stack for competitiveness and best-in-class product delivery in partnership with creative ad tech and ad operations teams.
    • Stay abreast of and integrate new trends in ad tech, data, and identity solutions.
    • Lead the development and execution of programmatic buying and selling strategies alongside our Ad Operations and programmatic teams.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Partner with internal and external stakeholders for seamless ad tech integration.
    • Work closely with vendors, pre-bid solutions, and DMPs to create innovative media solutions.
    • Share knowledge and insights with the broader team and industry.
    • Lead the group to provide instructions on how to execute changes directly in systems as needed to support site redesigns, ad product portfolio changes, and integrations of external vendors and systems
    • Work closely with Insider product teams to lead and build solutions for advertising executions and integrate with Business Insider’s publishing stack

The Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Proven ability to identify and implement emerging ad tech solutions, especially in the data and identity space. 
  • Experience in digital advertising, with a strong focus on advertisings solutions - from emerging technologies to programmatic buying dynamics.
  • Track record of success in driving revenue through advertising platforms and solutions.
  • Deep understanding of data and identity solutions, programmatic buying, and ad exchange dynamics.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving technical issues directly with vendors, Internal teams, etc.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to effectively communicate across a broad range of technical and non-technical people.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Base salary: $140,000 - $170,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)
  • Bonus available in addition to base salary
