About the opportunity

As a Senior Development Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the design, development, and maintenance of our software products. You will work closely with your peers to understand customer requirements and translate them into functional software solutions. In this role, you will be expected to advise junior software engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This is a remote opportunity where you will have the chance to work with a global team! Applicants must be able to work within North American time zones. 

Job Duties

• Maintain the design, development, and maintenance of software applications and systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements
• Advanced competency in the writing of clean, maintainable, and efficient code
• Maintain troubleshooting and debugging software issues
• Guiding code reviews to ensure code quality
• Review and maintain technical documentation
• Keep up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in software development
• Advise junior software engineers
• Have a sphere of influence on many parts of a product or system

What You Know

• Knowledge of designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems
• Ability to take the lead on directing and implementing solutions to address issues of a moderate, loose scope
• Liaise with internal stakeholders (senior leadership, peers etc.) and act as a subject matter expert
• Experience advising junior peers

Who You Are

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• A passion for writing clean code and solving problems at scale
• Professional experience with Ruby and/or GO, Event Driven Architecture (preferably Kafka), Temporal, Grafana, Postgres or CockroachDB
• Advocacy for automated testing
• Passion for observability
• Demonstrated performance tuning skills
• Familiarity with using version control systems
• Experience with API application development
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
• 4-6 years of experience in software engineering

The base salary range for this position is $125,900 - $139,900 USD for US residents OR $109,900 - $122,100 CAD for Canadian residents. Other countries will differ. Range may vary on a number of factors including, but not limited to: location, experience and qualifications.
