Your Job:

At Brooks, the Brand Creative team is one of the star utility players. Creative jacks of all trades, this team can bring the brand to life across almost any medium – print, video, in-store, events and more. Name a project, and the Brand Creative team had a hand in, somehow, bringing it to market and making it a creative success.
 
The Senior Designer, Art Direction is a seasoned member of the creative team. As part of a hands-on creative environment, you not only bring strong creative abilities to the table but must also be strategic and business savvy. The successful candidate is a creative thinker who will partner with writers to introduce groundbreaking ideas that will meet runners where they are, and in unexpected ways. This individual’s creative range must be vast and have the elasticity to stretch across in-store POP, out-of-home advertising, events, internal initiatives, and global brand assets. As part of the Campaign Design team, collaboration and flexibility are as important as your design chops and communication prowess. To excel in this role, you’ll need to have a vision for what’s possible, a knack for getting others bought in, and the pragmatism to make it a reality.

Responsibilities:

  • Design development of seasonal product launches and brand campaigns, including design and layout, illustration, and development of seasonal creative guides and asset kits, design of brooksrunning.com assets and social media content, dynamic retail creative, and work across a range of media- such as video content and motion graphics
  • Partner with writers to uncover breakthrough creative campaign ideas to reach new runners with the Brooks brand voice
  • Collaborate with Brand Creative and Brand Production team members to find the best strategic, on-brand solutions
  • Build and present pre-production decks that communicate video and photography direction for campaign creative concepts.
  • Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and Internet websites
  • Problem solve and find multiple design solutions, especially under narrow parameters or strict budget
  • Conceptualize and execute web and print advertising campaigns, trade show graphics and booth designs, banners, logos designs 
  • Collaborate with Brand Creative and Brand Production team members to find the best strategic, on-brand solutions
  • Continually learn higher skills involved with design, production art, file integrity, printing, and computer technologies.
  • Be able to think beyond current projects with an understanding of how design solutions made today can affect future applications
  • Be a wellspring of fun, creative ideas for existing projects as well as providing proactive ideas for how Brooks can show up for runners outside of current business needs
  • Assist with other graphics projects, production cost estimates, creative timelines, and art direction, as needed
  • Successfully manage time, workflow, and schedule to meet strict and sometimes aggressive deadlines
  • Mentor and support other designers, and partner with freelancers to ensure Brand Creative goals are met

Qualifications:

  • Degree in graphic design or related field (B.A. or portfolio school preferred)
  • Phenomenal design portfolio demonstrating best in class layout, typography, and conceptual skills. Please add your online portfolio link at the top of your resume when applying.
  • 5+ Years’ experience in Professional Graphic Design, either in-house or in an advertising agency setting or studio preferred
  • 5+ Years’ experience with Adobe Creative Suite products
  • Senior Designer experience at a creative agency or with an in-house creative team preferred
  • Exceptionally high bar and a conviction that details matter, but the big picture idea is even more important
  • Expert knowledge in Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop are unequivocally necessary
  • Experience art directing photographers and illustrators
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating effective listening through concise, clear verbal and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that inspire and build trust resulting in effective working relationships across the company
  • Keen attention to detail in planning, organization, and execution of tasks, while still seeing the big picture and understanding how the pieces fit together and affect one another
  • Ability to anticipate how a decision made can affect our customers, our partners, our products, or other departments’ operations and/or morale; “connecting the dots”
  • Demonstration of innovation and initiative – always looking at improving our products and processes while also displaying a willingness to dive into the details and help wherever necessary
  • Ability to understand and empathize with the runner to develop loyal, engaging relationships with our customers and the Brooks community
  • Travel required, 3-6x a year

Compensation:
The pay range for this position, based out of the Brooks Seattle HQ, is $96,358 - $144,538 per year. Base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
