Senior Data Scientist

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our data science team and help drive data-driven decision-making across the organization. Data scientists at Vendavo are primarily focused on developing ML Algorithms that are embedded into Vendavo products.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for leveraging your expertise in data science to develop innovative solutions for cutting edge problems within the pricing domain. You will work closely with Cross-functional teams and existing Vendavo Customers to analyze large datasets, conduct research and develop/deploy machine learning models.

THE OPPORTUNITY

  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements, define success metrics, and communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
  • Evaluate and benchmark machine learning algorithms to identify the most effective solutions for specific business problems.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and feature engineering on large datasets to extract relevant information and patterns that can help drive performance of the machine learning models.
  • Take a leading role in advancing our data science initiatives, driving project deliverables, and providing guidance and mentorship to data scientists in the team to foster skill development and enhance team capabilities.
  • Develop and deploy production-ready machine learning models using Python, contributing directly to the enhancement of products.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and software developers to integrate machine learning models into scalable production systems, ensuring seamless functionality within our product suite.
  • Participation on UX design of the final solution
  • Effectively communicate complex data science concepts and findings to non-data science professionals. This involves translating technical jargon into understandable language and using visualizations to convey insights.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software engineering.

THE SKILL SET

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field; advanced degree (MS/PhD) preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in data science, with a strong focus on Python programming for data analysis, modeling, and production deployment.
  • Strong understanding of statistical modeling, predictive modeling techniques, and machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, ensemble methods).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and initiatives, with a strong capacity for mentoring junior data scientists, enhancing team performance, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work. effectively in cross-functional teams and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a passion for continuous learning and improvement.
  • You must be a team player, who is positive and fits into our team.
  • You must speak English fluently and be able to communicate in an international environment.
  • Additional preferred skills include:
  • Experience working with large datasets and implementing scalable data processing solutions (e.g., Spark, Dask)
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, including proficiency in AWS SageMaker, for data storage, processing, and machine learning deployment.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
