You bring technical and scientific expertise to our Marketing Steering team.
The mission of the Marketing Steering team is to optimize marketing activities such as budget allocation, bidding algorithms and target audience generation using Data Science, Machine Learning and advanced analytics. The team is in charge of designing, prototyping, deploying and maintaining automated budget optimization processes and recommendation engines that are critical key components of the core value creation process at HeyJobs: optimizing the number of qualified applicants for jobs.
You will work on designing, prototyping, deploying and maintaining solutions for products that are based on statistics, machine learning and mathematical optimization. For this you can leverage rich data sets that we have collected over the years.
As a senior, we expect you to actively contribute ideas and think about how new possibilities in ML/DS could be applied in our business - we'd love it if you can show us how we could improve what we do. We also expect you to help elevate the technical and DS skills of (junior) colleagues, and to be able to proactively handle the freedom of large open-ended problems and projects.
Aside from the Marketing Steering team, you will be a part of the Data Science Guild: an internal group of DS professionals from multiple product teams that regularly meet to share knowledge and learn together.

🎯 How you can contribute to HeyJobs
- Contribute to research and development of machine-learning-powered products in the scope of marketing optimization
- Improve and maintain machine learning-powered products with high business impact
- Conducting analyses on our data and generating insights about the products
- Propose and suggest new DS / ML approaches for business problems, in a practically-oriented environment where your opinion has a direct impact
- Contribute full-stack, on the full lifecycle from conception to production
- Collaborate with other data scientists, data engineers, data analysts, the PM
- Support and mentor junior colleagues
- Work with languages and technologies like Python (pandas, scikit, PyTorch, Jupyter), Airflow, AWS (Batch/Sagemaker), Docker, SQL
🤝 What sets you up for success
- A degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Econometrics, Mathematics, Physics or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in developing, deploying and maintaining ML applications
- Proven industry experience (solving machine learning cases for Kaggle or academia is not enough)
- A good understanding of common ML algorithms, probability theory and statistics
- Solid Python software engineering skills, including best practices like CI/CD, Git, documenting
- The ability to work well in an agile environment and to help refine and structure larger projects
- The ability to come up with, compare, and assess multiple different solutions to a problem
- A clear and structured way of communicating in English (German not required)
Bonus:
- Knowledge about algorithmic marketing
- Knowledge about constrained optimization, operations research, or linear programming
- Knowledge about cloud computing environments (we use AWS), Docker and Airflow
