Senior Data Modeler

We are seeking a Senior Data Modeler to join our team remotely. 

Responsibilities:  

Data Model Design and Development

• Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models to represent business processes and data structures
• Design database schemas and implement them in relational database management systems (RDBMS)
• Develop data models for operational data stores, data marts, and data lakes

Data Analysis and Requirements Gathering

• Analyze business needs and translate them into data modeling solutions
• Work with business users and stakeholders to understand their information requirements
• Evaluate existing data systems and identify areas for improvement

Data Standards and Best Practices

• Define and maintain data modeling standards, guidelines, and best practices
• Ensure consistency in data models across the organization
• Develop and enforce naming conventions and coding standards

Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with data architects, database administrators, and other IT professionals
• Collaborate with development teams to implement databases and data warehouses
• Present data modeling concepts and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences

Additional Responsibilities

• Optimize data query performance through best practices and fine-tuning
• Ensure data integrity and quality across systems
• Develop scripts for data cleansing and automation
• Maintain metadata and data lineage information
• Participate in data governance initiatives

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university  
• 10+ year’s experience in Data modelling and ETL related work, preferably in Fintech/Finance and Accounting/ Investments
• Ability to differentiate between data models for BI vs AI/algorithms
• Work closely with data stewards, data engineers to define and build an optimized data model
• Database Design and Normalization
• SQL and NoSQL Proficiency
• Data Warehousing and ETL Processes
• Big Data Technologies and Frameworks
• Data Mining and Predictive Modelling
• Machine Learning Algorithms familiarity
• Data Visualization Tools and Techniques
• Cloud Computing and Storage Solutions
• Programming Skills in Python, R, or Java
• Understanding of Data Governance and Compliance
• Communication and Collaboration   Technical Proficiency in Data Structures and Databases :
• Deep understanding of data structures, database management systems (DBMS), and the ability to design schemas that are both scalable and performant.
• Knowledge of SQL and experience with various database technologies like relational databases, NoSQL, and cloud-based data storage solutions.
• Creation of data models that effectively support the highly scalable storage, retrieval, and manipulation of data.
• Knowledge of Data Modelling Standards and Best Practices
• Staying abreast of data modeling standards and best practices, ensuring consistency, compliance, and efficiency in data management.
• Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data model design, Normalization, and denormalization.
• Understanding Fintech industry-specific regulations and data governance principles, in creating models that meet regulatory requirements and business needs.
• Proficiency in Data Modelling Tools
• Proficiency in a variety of data modelling tools (ER/Studio, IBM Data Architect, or Microsoft Visio or similar tools to create detailed data models
• Analytical and Critical Thinking
• Proven track record exhibiting strong analytical and critical thinking skills to dissect complex data requirements and translate them into coherent data models.
• Ability to identify patterns, understand relationships between data entities, and foresee the implications of data structure decisions on data integrity and quality.
