Summary/Overview:

KBRA (KBRA Holdings, LLC) is seeking an engaged and proactive Senior Data Engineer to work with our RMBS (Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities) team.  We want someone who loves solving difficult problems, digs deeply to understand the domain in which they’re working, and excels at creating high-quality software in a collaborative environment.

Our engineering team is a highly collaborative unit that is responsible for creating web applications and REST APIs backing our financial products. In RMBS, we deal with large data sets and collaborate closely with Quantitative Modelling team to run models which are used for securitization of loans. Working with our product team, the team builds a high-quality user experience for our clients, both internal and external.

About the Job:

The team produces analysis on many different categories of RMBS deals and handles large volumes of data. This necessitates a responsive application which can also run loads at scale. We keenly observe calculation speed, latency and scalability. We are constantly on the lookout for absorbing the right Cloud based services and products which fits our needs, hence Proof-Of-Concepts (POCs) and integration of Cloud services to our platform are essential to this role.

This role involves joining an existing team with a growing product vision. This team operates collaboratively and there is an expectation to get involved in all aspects of design, delivery, and support of our systems, adding features to the product continuously and iteratively.

This role emphasizes collaboration with our technical and non-technical counterparts to learn our domain and its unique challenges, while delivering value to our customers. It also requires collaboration with our other engineering, design, product, and platform teams to develop, build, run, and support the system.

About You:

You will be successful in this role if you:

  • Able to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Have experience collaborating and communicating with technical and non-technical partners.

  • Enjoy helping other developers grow and learn new technologies.

Must have skills:

  • Exercise a strong command of the Python programming language (senior level)
  • Design and implement features in a distributed, event-based architecture
  • Lead REST API design and development by coordinating with clients within and across teams
  • Design NoSQL data models, particularly for MongoDB
  • Write read queries in SQL
  • Navigate monitoring / logging tools to identify and troubleshoot issues
  • Adhere to test-driven development to validate accuracy and functionality
  • Communicate with stakeholders so as elicit functional requirements and feedback
  • Demonstrate an understanding of web application architecture

Salary Range:

The anticipated annual base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 to $180,000. Offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience, skills, geography, and other job-related factors.
