Reporting to the Data Engineering Director, the Senior Data Engineer undertakes investigation and analysis of business information from internal and external sources to develop and document data element mappings between various D&B data models to support the transport of data from source to destination in an efficient and standardized manner. This role requires an ability and proven experience in translating business needs and business processes into coded data mappings.
Interaction and detailed consulting with both internal and external stakeholders to provide advice, guidance and management to ensure best data sources are identified, mapped and consumed. The Data Engineer is a subject matter expert in the interfaces between local market systems and wider D&B data ecosystem.
The Data Engineer participates in global data testing initiatives by configuring test environment data transformations and populating databases and providing support and guidance to global teams as required. The Senior Data Engineer is familiar with Agile practices and is comfortable and mature working both independently and as part of a globally distributed team.
Essential Key Responsibilities:
- Analysis: Independently lead and document working sessions with cross functional teams to analyze and understand local market data structures and data mapping requirements.
- Document: Define and articulate data models and document them according to D&B enterprise standards and guidelines.
- Review: Independently review data models with stakeholders such as local market data SMEs, Senior Data Architects, development teams and business teams.
- Develop: Build data mapping transformation code using your proven working knowledge of XML, JSON, C#, MSSQL, MongoDB, MS-Office tools.
- Test: Independently and in collaboration with local and global teams, perform focused and mass-testing of data transformations to ensure quality and accuracy of output data.
Education/Experience and Competencies:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, data science, information systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience along with 5-8 years work experience in a data analysis/data engineering role.
- Solid understanding of master data concepts, processes, and tools including data modeling, data profiling, data quality assessment, data integration, data privacy and data governance.
- Proven working knowledge of XML, JSON, C#, SQL server, MongoDB, Jira, Octopus, GCP, MS-Office tools.
- Ability to understand data in aspects of inputs, purpose, usage, business value, integration and quality and an ability to articulate complex systems in simple terms and in documents and diagrams.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a wide range of stakeholders and articulate technical issues in a business language to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to interrogate data stored in relational and document databases efficiently and advanced data analysis skills and knowledge of SQL programming.
- Must have the ability to be on call and to work out of standard India working hours as required.
