Senior Data Engineer (Hybrid Work)

The Team

The Enterprise Applications – Data team is a growing team of senior data specialists (Data Engineering & Business Intelligence (BI)) that support internal collaborators across the APAC region in designing and implementing corporate data solutions. You would be joining a fast paced, of highly confident, intelligent and self-motivated individuals that value a meritocracy and work in a collaborative and agile way to ensure the right outcomes for SEEK. The team runs the Corporate Data Hub (CDH) and currently pushes the boundaries when it comes to concepts such as Data Lake-housing.

About the role

This role will report into the Data & Reporting Lead for Enterprise Application and play a key function in designing and implementing robust, secure and scalable corporate data solutions using AWS cloud technology coupled with our tailored ELT tools for our internal collaborators (Finance, Sales Operations, Commercial Excellence, Marketing & HR) across the APAC region.

Responsibilities

• Work in close collaboration with our collaborators and technical teams to architect, design, implement, test and run leading data and analytics solutions.
• Continuously chip in to the improvement of SEEK’s data engineering solutions, standards and guidelines.
• Ensure all solutions conform to SEEK’s existing design patterns, architecture & data governance practices
• Engage with collaborators to translate data requirements into technical specifications and recommend appropriate solutions
• Proactively recommend technologies and practices that will allow SEEK to maintain its innovative platform while minimizing cost and improving performance
• Provide collaborators with a high level of support when solving issues
• Growing the technical capabilities of more junior engineers through coaching and mentoring.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Outstanding technical skills across:
• AWS Services: S3, IAM, Glue Catalog, RDS, Lambda, SSM, Cloud Formation
• Data Engineering: Python/Pyspark, SQL, Bash scripting, Docker, GIT, Airflow.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong architectural capabilities when it comes to designing and implementing data solutions
• A strong appreciation of Data Management & Data Governance standard methodologies
• A firm grasp of Data Warehousing & Data Lake concepts (Delta Tables, Kimball/Vault Modelling)
• Self-starter with the ability to work under stress, independently and run multiple projects and task demands effectively

Other Skills and Experience

• Good communication & collaborator engagement skills
• Successful record of delivering sophisticated data solutions in highly technical, fast-paced & ambiguous environments
