The Decisions Alliance's goal is to enable HelloFresh to build a rapid feedback loop around understanding our customers, finding the best way to communicate with them and utilizing AI/ML capabilities. We're responsible for the company's Communications, Customer Data, Experimentation, and MLOps Platforms. Our team works on a variety of technologies ranging from high throughout, real-time communications systems to deep statistical libraries to large-scale machine learning training pipelines.
The role
You will join our cross-functional team dedicated to ensuring effective communication with HelloFresh customers. As a Senior Data Engineer, will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and operating high-scale data processing pipelines that support our communications platform and message types such as email, SMS, and push notifications. Your team will be a place where your thoughts and opinions matter and your contributions will have a tremendous impact on the team's success.
What you’ll do
- Work collaboratively in a cross-functional team of 6-10 members, utilizing diverse technologies and frameworks
- Take ownership of the end-to-end process, including architecture, design, development, deployment, and operations of data pipelines, applying DevOps practices, pair programming, and other cutting-edge methodologies
- Actively contribute as a solution-oriented member within autonomous, cross-functional agile teams, collaborating with product owners, backend engineers, mobile engineers, and business intelligence teams
- Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of HelloFresh's core product and architecture, serving as an ambassador for software solutions and providing support and mentorship to colleagues
- Work with state-of-the-art technologies like AWS EMR, Kafka, PySpark, Kubernetes, Airflow, and more
What you’ll bring
- Solid software engineering experience with the ability to design, implement, and deliver maintainable, high-quality code in Python/PySpark
- Hands-on experience with cloud computing and data processing technologies, including Spark, Amazon EMR, Kubernetes, and Kafka
- Proficiency in data modeling, relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), and object stores (e.g., AWS S3)
- Expertise in end-to-end development processes, including unit, integration & functional testing, application tuning/profiling, and continuous integration
- Demonstrable experience with agile methodologies, with a strong focus on delivery, lean thinking, and quick iterations
- You seek to continuously develop yourself and learn from your peers
- You thrive in the opportunity to collaborate and mentor team members, while also sharing practical knowledge and trends
- Experience with event-driven architecture is nice to have
- Bonus points for practical experience integrating marketing providers such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, and HubSpot
