Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role
You’ll work in a data product squad to design, build and deliver beautiful data products and insights to our business, collaborating with our technical leads and the broader data team. You’ll be a leader in the team ensuring our platform standards and practices are followed, including recommending practice improvements to our technical leads, and coaching/mentoring junior team members.
At Contact although technical skills are important, so are the soft skills you bring to the table. The work you do will enable stakeholders to save money, save time, and add value so they can concentrate on delivering some pretty audacious and important goals Contact have (like working towards the decarbonisation of Aotearoa).
We are working on a modern data platform that is still growing, so there is a lot of scope for growing and understanding current trends and emerging technology in this role.
Ko wai koe | About You
We’re really big on collaboration so this type of environment will suit you well. You're a problem solver at heart who embraces challenging problems in the data world. Additionally, you’ll be unfazed by a fast-changing complex environment and have a passion for continuous improvement and delivering the right solution for our business.
Here’s some technical skills we’ll be searching for in your application;
Designed and deployed data pipelines and solutions in complex environments
Technical analysis and problem-solving skills to find and resolve data issues
Data transformation (ELT/ETL) using a range of structured and unstructured sources to create data that works for a variety of use cases
Extensive knowledge of the SDLC and contemporary tools, practices, and expectations as applicable to data and ML engineering contexts
Open-source data and cloud platforms/services, preferably AWS, Spark
Programming, preferably SQL and Python
Additional skills and experience are beneficial, especially experience implementing and optimising ML/AI pipelines and a practical understanding of ML frameworks and libraries.
Contact is not a place you’ll stagnate. We are growing and offer superb learning and development opportunities along with trailblazing policies like Growing Your Whānau, and perks like discounts on Contact Energy products, access to own Contact shares and a bunch of corporate discounts!
He mea nui ngā paki kōrero ki a mātou i Contact, nā reira, mēnā kei a koe tētehi e hāngai pea ana ki tā mātou e kimi nei i tēnei tūranga kei raro iho nei--kei te hiahia mātou kia whakapā mai ai koe!
We are big on stories here at Contact, so if you have one that you think might align with what we are looking for – we would love to hear from you!
Applications close on Friday 15th November 2024 but we’re considering applications as they come in so hop to it and apply if you're keen.
Please note, only candidates with the right to live and work in New Zealand will be considered for this role.
Research shows that while men apply to jobs where they meet 60% of the criteria, women and those in underrepresented groups tend to only apply if they tick every box. We're not about box ticking, so if you think you have what it takes but don't meet everything stated above, please still get in touch. We'd love to kōrero.
