Senior Credit Risk Manager - Motor Finance

We are seeking an experienced Senior Credit Risk Manager specialising in Motor Finance to join our team in London, United Kingdom. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and implementation of credit risk strategies for our motor finance and unsecured lending portfolio, ensuring robust risk management practices whilst supporting business growth.

  • Own the Risk Appetite and Key Risk Indicators for Acquisitions including early performance monitoring and customer affordability metrics, completing deep dives into any unexpected trends and recommending mitigating action where necessary
  • Responsible for the decision strategies and policies for credit management and affordability assessment, using appropriate data, champion/challenger approaches and analytical tools. Regularly monitor industry developments and innovation to highlight new opportunities and ideas
  • Lead the analysis of credit risk trends and patterns across motor finance and unsecured lending
  • Collaborate with senior management to align risk strategies with business objectives
  • Manage and mentor a team of credit risk analysts, fostering their professional development
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews and stress testing to identify potential risks
  • Provide expert advice on complex credit decisions and policy exceptions
  • Develop and present comprehensive risk reports to executive leadership
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in credit risk management, with a focus on motor finance
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing successful credit risk strategies
  • Advanced knowledge of credit risk assessment methodologies and best practices
  • Strong understanding of UK financial regulations and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, statistical analysis, and risk management software
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in managing high-performing teams
  • Advanced user of either SAS or Python
  • In-depth knowledge of the automotive finance industry and market trends
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly
  • Strong decision-making capabilities, particularly in high-pressure situations
