Role Summary
As Senior Contracts Manager in the commercial legal team at Sophos your key responsibilities will include working with the rest of the team and independently to draft, review, negotiate and finalize contracts that will include vendor agreements, customer contracts, and complex channel agreements. A key part of this role is managing the wide variety of legal queries received from the business using our Jira ticket system, promptly responding to these and solving these as efficiently and helpfully as possible.
You will also be responsible for enabling the business to follow the processes that we have set up to help them by ensuring that appropriate and helpful training and materials are available to push them in the right direction, responding in a positive and helpful manner to any queries to keep them on track. Success in this role requires a proactive mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex, high-stakes contracts whilst maintaining productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
What you will do
- Be part of a dynamic global commercial legal team providing legal support and advice to the business.
- Provide legal support on commercial transactions in varying jurisdictions globally. This will include drafting, reviewing and negotiating supplier, customer and channel agreements and related commercial legal documents.
- Help to manage and respond to the wide variety of legal queries received from the business using our Jira ticket system, promptly responding to these to solve them as efficiently and helpfully as possible taking a measured, risk-based approach.
- Explain existing processes to the business and develop and implement training and procedures for the business to mitigate legal risks and enhance operational efficiency.
- Establish and maintain relationships with various departments, including finance, HR, channel, sales, support and operations, to provide holistic legal support and ensure alignment with business goals.
- Be an active team member, engaging in team meetings and thriving on healthy debate and an atmosphere where we all strive to learn from each other.
- Monitor and complete contract execution and use Sophos' contract management tools for record keeping.
What you will bring
- A minimum of 7 years of commercial legal experience, with at least 4 years of that experience in an in-house counsel role, ideally in an IT environment.
- A solid legal academic background which has given you a deep knowledge of contract law and a strong understanding of legal terms and regulatory requirements
- Proficient drafting skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to listen to the business and take their needs into account as well as the legal considerations taking a risk based, pragmatic approach.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills together with a proactive, problem solving, solutions driven outlook and a growth mindset.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Business friendly approach with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with contract management software/tools
- An awareness of data privacy requirements
- Experience dealing with tender responses
