Senior Content Portfolio Manager and Head of Content Operations

Reports to: Global Head of Content, FT Live

 

The Role

FT Live is seeking an experienced, commercially minded Senior Content Portfolio Manager to coordinate a key portfolio of B2B events and lead content operations across the team. This is a pivotal role for a dynamic, entrepreneurial individual with a proven track record in developing and launching large-scale conferences. An understanding of the link between content development and commercial success is essential.

We are seeking a candidate who will set the strategic direction for their portfolio, establish sector relationships, and drive innovation to ensure FT Live remains at the forefront. They will oversee content timelines and turning points within the team to optimize commercial success and deliver outstanding event experience

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Strategy & Development: Take ownership of a portfolio of events, ensuring alignment with market trends, industry needs, and commercial opportunities.
  • Content Design & Innovation: Shape event agendas that deliver high value to attendees and sponsors by incorporating formats such as keynotes, interviews, panel discussions , roundtables and debates.
  • Project Management: Produce and manage specific events, coordinating with departments to meet targets and timelines.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships within the sector, including key external partners and FT journalists.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Guide and nurture a small team of conference producers, promoting professional development and facilitating seamless event execution.
  • Content Operations: Lead content operations, managing timelines, achievements, and deliverables for timely, high-quality event production.
  • Commercial Contribution: Collaborate with the commercial team to align content strategies with sponsor needs, testing new concepts for portfolio growth.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across FT Live and the broader FT organisation, including commercial, marketing, operations, and editorial teams.
  • Marketing Support: Collaborate with the event marketing manager to improve event visibility by devising effective marketing strategies.

 

Required Skills / Experience

  • Strategic Vision: Demonstrable experience in setting and implementing a strategic vision for a portfolio of B2B events.
  • B2B Event Production: Proven experience in producing engaging B2B events, including agenda design and speaker recruitment.
  • Industry Expertise: Ability to develop knowledge in the field and establish positive relationships with collaborators.
  • Content Operations Expertise: Strong skills in managing content timelines and deliverables to optimise commercial outcomes.
  • Relationship Management: Ability to build and maintain an extensive network and foster positive connections at all levels.
  • Team Management: Experience in managing and mentoring teams, supporting professional development.
  • Commercial Competence: Strong focus on aligning content strategy with commercial goals to drive revenue.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to engage effectively with customers and audiences.
