Position Summary
PMA is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Project Manager to manage the construction of a large-scale airline catering operations facility. The role will involve acting as the Owner's representative, overseeing overall engineering, procurement, construction management, and the coordination of all phases of the project from preconstruction through completion. You will collaborate with key stakeholders, manage complex systems integration, and ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry regulations.
This position demands significant experience managing high-profile construction projects, ideally with aviation-related or industrial facilities. Experience with complex systems like HVAC, refrigeration, and food production is preferred.
Responsibilities include:
- Overall Project Management:
- Lead and manage all phases of the project lifecycle, including planning, preconstruction, procurement, design review, cost control, and final delivery.
- Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
- Act as the primary point of contact for contractors, engineers, architects, and stakeholders throughout the project.
- Implement and monitor risk management strategies, ensuring safety and compliance with local, state, federal, and aviation regulations.
- Review and approve bid reviews, design plans, and procurement packages.
- Construction Oversight:
- Oversee daily construction activities, ensuring compliance with quality standards (QA/QC) and operational requirements.
- Manage construction coordination, including procurement of materials, subcontractor activities, and logistics.
- Conduct progress meetings and provide weekly reports to senior management.
- Ensure safety standards are upheld and manage construction worksite safety inspections.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as the Owner's representative, coordinating closely with key stakeholders, senior management, and end-users to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Communicate project updates, schedules, and any changes to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
- Budget & Cost Management:
- Develop and manage project budgets, including cost tracking, analysis, and approval of change orders.
- Ensure financial discipline is maintained, providing accurate forecasting and managing financial risks.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all project activities comply with relevant aviation and safety regulations, including coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) if required.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, environmental regulations, and zoning requirements.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is required.
- 20+ years of experience managing large-scale design and construction projects, preferably in the aviation or industrial sectors.
- Experience with complex food production facilities and catering systems is preferred.
- Experience managing all levels of the project lifecycle, including feasibility, procurement, design, commissioning, and activation.
- Proven ability to manage multiple high-profile projects simultaneously.
- Expertise in strategic program/project planning, risk management, and team coordination.
- Strong skills in managing projects with HVAC, refrigeration, and process automation systems.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and coordinating with regulatory bodies.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with experience presenting progress reports and facilitating work sessions.
- Proficiency in construction management software, including Microsoft Project, Procore, as well as Building Information Modeling (BIM), and project delivery methods such as CMAR.
- Working knowledge of ORAT (Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer) processes and best practices or participation in ORAT projects is preferred.
Additional Requirements
Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.
Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
