Senior Cloud Engineer

As part of our Core IT Infrastructure Services team you will provide the foundation for Brainlab’s AWS hosted workloads. You ensure all centralized functionalities like networking, auditing, reporting, monitoring and alerting are well implemented and functioning. “AWS Organization” is implemented and automated in Terraform. 

In close collaboration with your colleagues within the IT department you continuously shape our “AWS Landing Zone” and elevate it to the next level according to our business needs. 

As an internal consultant you will guide our various departments in developing the best cloud architecture for their and our customer’s needs. That way you will have a direct impact in our product delivery and our patients treatments.  

Your tasks include:

  • Continuously evaluate and improve AWS infrastructure to meet evolving needs 
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize the “AWS Landing Zone” for cost, usability, and security 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align cloud solutions with business objectives 
  • Keep the security status of AWS accounts up to date according to the CIS AWS Foundational Benchmark standards 
  • Ensure the AWS environment at Brainlab adheres to predefined AWS best practices and Brainlab security standards 
  • Configure custom notification subscriptions and dashboards for AWS end users 
  • Provide expertise and guidance to enhance individual workloads in alignment with the “AWS Well-Architected Framework” pillars 
  • Provide end-user support to troubleshoot issues at the service/application level 
  • Ensure a seamless and save usage of AWS within Brainlab 
  • A degree in computer science or an equivalent technical education with a minimum of 5 years of experience 
  • Enthusiasm for new technology with a passion for IT system architectures 
  • A high level of expertise with AWS, as well as a broad understanding of IT principles in general (networking, web services, security concepts, micro-services, load-balancing and high available system architectures) 
  • Analytical troubleshooting capabilities 
  • Very good automation skills (Terraform, CDK, Python) 
  • Advanced English skills 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively within a team 
  • Independent, structured and organised working style 
  • A strong focus on user orientation, service availability, cost efficiency, data privacy and cyber security 
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus. 

Please note that this position is based in Munich, with the possibility for two home office days per week.
