ClimateWorks Foundation has been funding and coordinating a coalition of analysts and advocates working to decarbonize global maritime shipping, via policy & politics, industry cooperation, and technology development for over a decade. Our work spans efforts make advances in the International Maritime Organization, to cooperation with leading corporate customers of shipping services, to supporting local environmental movements in port communities affected by pollution. Opportunities for making progress have been accelerating, and we now aim to increase our effectiveness in key areas globally with a new team member.
We are seeking a colleague who will be focused on engaging with non-profits, ports, shipping industry and government officials who are delivering on commitments to put zero-carbon ships on the water. We aim to coordinate and harmonize philanthropic support, research, and advocacy across a range of stakeholders to be able to push forward results related to:
- Implementing the first green shipping corridors
- Building demand for zero carbon shipping services
- Limiting the uptake of new fossil fuels in shipping such as LNG.
- Decarbonizing ports and strengthening associated environmental justice campaigns
This position will interact with existing campaigns in the field, seek to ensure their effective cooperation, grow new areas of work, and achieve results on the water.
Working with the Director of the shipping program and other team members, the Campaign Senior Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activity of grantees and partners to meet KPIs. Specific responsibilities will include:

The location of the position is flexible, recognizing that ClimateWorks headquarters are located in San Francisco and the individual should be available to participate in meetings and events in that time zone, as well as being available for collaboration with global partners at various times of day. Candidates can work from the SF office or from other locations. Open to considering candidates with expertise in the shipping sector particularly in Asia and Europe. Geographic pay differential is applied to compensation based on the local cost of labor.
ClimateWorks offers an excellent benefits package and a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience (geographic differential applied based on location).
Salary Range (Bay Area / NYC): $130,000 - $140,000 annually.
Salary Range (Other US): $120,000 to $130,000 annually
International salary range - will be determined based on the location and local cost of labor.
