Role Overview

The Senior Backend Engineer (nodeJS/Golang) at 10 Minute School is responsible for building and maintaining resilient, event-driven systems that ensure zero downtime for clients. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-value features while mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate is a backend specialist with strong experience in system design, cloud technologies, and event-driven architecture, who is passionate about solving complex user challenges.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain highly available, self-healing, and resilient event-driven systems
• Support the migration of systems and processes
• Ensuring zero downtime for clients
• Designing, implementing, and supporting high-value features for customers
• Owning the end-to-end delivery of changes, including testing, observability, and monitoring
• Collaborating with engineers on the team as well as cross-functional stakeholders to develop complex solutions
• Mentoring junior team members

• Solid programming experience in Node.js or Golang.
• 4 years of experience as a Backend Engineer specializing in distributed, fault-tolerant, and event-driven systems.
• Proven experience in system design, data modeling, and API design.
• Hands-on experience with RabbitMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL databases.
• Prior experience with modern cloud technologies (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experienced with CI/CD products such as GitHub Actions.
• Excellent project and time management skills.
• You take pride in your work, have a keen sense of ownership, and are dedicated to writing clear, maintainable, and testable code.
• You’re a product-focused engineer who is passionate and curious about solving user challenges.
