- Automotive designers are responsible for designing the appearance, components, and ergonomics of automobiles and other road vehicles.
- The functional development of a vehicle, including the mechanical, electrical, software, electronic, and safety aspects, are usually completed by a team of automotive engineers, whereas the aesthetics and appearance of the vehicle are left in the talented and artistic hands of an automotive designer.
- Making preliminary sketches of car designs, including interior and exterior design and colour scheme
- Developing new body style designs or altering automobile designs to conform to current safety standards and government emissions regulations
- Using computer-aided design (CAD) software to create three-dimensional mockups, including body style, trim, headlights, grill, taillights and exhaust systems
- Creating layouts and clearance studies of folding and removable seat assemblies involving body components and occupant considerations
- Having creativity and design knowledge in Automotive HMI and Apps is a huge plus.
- Develop unique proposals via manual sketches, digital sketches, renderings/digital paintings, 3D sketch models, 3D renderings and other experimental medias to best illustrate the designer’s full intentions.
- Ability to understand project briefs and engineering requirements to initiate, develop, and present 2D & 3D assets.
- Work in a fast-paced, collaborative, multiple projects, creative environment with a high level of responsibility for each designer.
- Strong understanding of advanced design methodologies and the ability to integrate them into practical design solutions.
- Responsible for creating presentations and capable of communicating design proposals visually and verbally.
- Great interest and/or knowledge of Artificial intelligence software/trends, V.R. sketching/modeling
- 5+ years of experience in a design studio.
- 3+ years of 3D Art experience.
- Healthy portfolio of completed works and personal projects.
- Good understanding of industry software such as Maya and V-ray.
- Attention to detail such as realism, texture, and color.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Industrial design, Transportation design, or other relevant design areas.
- Strong visual communication skills via 2D & 3D sketching, great story telling skills, strong sense of 3D space, adventurous to find new design methods and ambitious to innovate design.
- Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Autodesk Alias Sub-D, VRED, Blender, Premier pro/After effects; VR capabilities are a plus.
- Proficient using Windows PC, assembling presentation decks in Microsoft PowerPoint, use of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Proficient English level
