Reports to: Head, Marketing & Communications, dotted line to Chief Marketing Officer

 

Role Summary

Husk is seeking an experienced Senior Associate, Communications in Nigeria. The individual will play an integral role in the creation of content, media relations, and strategies for its business verticals (microgrids, energy-efficient appliances, and C&I), and other initiatives.

The candidate will provide support to the Head, Marketing & Communications in designing creative campaigns, benchmarking the performance of all campaigns, effectively utilizing marketing analytics and ultimately driving the initiatives responsible for attracting potential customers as well as retaining existing ones. 

Key responsibilities:

Internal Comms

  • Production of regular updates on Nigeria team progress/highlights

Media Relations

  • Maintaining press contact list for Nigeria/pan-Africa.

  • Building relationships with Nigerian editors/journalists covering energy, climate, and other relevant topics and working with them to shape coverage, identify and pitch story ideas, etc.

  • Distributing press releases and other content to Nigeria media

  • Support developing/writing press releases and other external comms documents

Content Creation

  • Creating content for "Powering Prosperity" video series spotlighting Husk customers

  • Creating content to spotlight employees and business partners.

  • Develop and execute content strategies across multiple platforms to enhance brand awareness, engagement, and visibility.

Event Management and Marketing Support

  • Help design and write marketing materials to support the sales team.

  • Event/Executive Visibility

  • Maintaining a list of events/speaking opportunities for Nigeria/Africa

  • Coordinating with event organizers to secure speaking opportunities for Husk

Social Media Management

  • Manage social media channels (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn), including content creation, scheduling, and performance tracking.

Required Skills & Attributes

  • 4 – 7 years of experience in Communications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing or Communications

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media

  • Exceptional communication abilities, including writing, speaking, and active listening

  • In-depth knowledge of the best writing and messaging practices for business correspondence, public relations, advertising, marketing and sales copy, and social media.

  • Ability to effectively engage with team members of all levels and across departments

  • Great project management skills, including time management, goal setting, multitasking, and prioritization.

  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills

  • Strong research and presentation skills

  • Experienced in managing different social media channels

  • Ability to implement changes and improvements quickly and successfully in operational activities and services.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders at all levels.

 

Location and Travel

This role is based in Abuja, Nigeria.

Salary: 

Negotiable based on experience
