About Alltrna
Alltrna unlocks tRNA biology to treat disease. The company’s platform incorporates AI/ML tools to develop and deliver diverse programmable molecules with broad therapeutic potential. Alltrna has an unprecedented opportunity to advance a single tRNA medicine to readthrough premature stop codons and unify treatment across a wide range of diseases with the same underlying genetic mutations. Alltrna was founded in 2018 by Flagship Pioneering. For more info, visit www.alltrna.com.
The Position:
Alltrna is seeking an energetic, bold, and motivated Senior/Principal Associate Scientist with extensive wet-lab experience in molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques and interest in pharmacology, disease biology, and/or novel therapeutic modalities.
This individual will contribute to the development and implementation of in vitro pharmacology experimental strategies within the Pharmacology and Disease Biology team. The ideal candidate will possess superior technical skills and be a self-starter with a growth mentality. This role will provide a unique opportunity to lead and innovate. Importantly, as a technical lead, the successful candidate will be a critical resource for their peers and will be pivotal in the advancement of team and company goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently and collaboratively design, optimize, troubleshoot, and implement cutting edge assays to assess in vitro and in vivo target engagement, pharmacodynamics, and efficacy of Alltrna’s tRNAs in various disease models.
- Contribute to multiple projects executed in parallel and adhere to timelines while performing time-sensitive, mission-critical experiments.
- Operate within the Pharmacology and Disease Biology team while regularly collaborating with cross-functional, matrixed teams to support the translation of preclinical data to the clinic.
- Analyze data and deliver regular updates on experimental progress and results to scientific and leadership teams.
- Establish and implement operational and experimental best practices to ensure rigor and reproducibility.
Key Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, cell biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
- In-depth expertise in a broad range of molecular, cellular, and biochemical laboratory techniques, including but not limited to:
- Mammalian cell culture (especially primary cells, stem cells, and/or stem cell-derived cells)
- Transient, stable, and LNP-based transfections
- Cell viability assessments
- RNA/DNA purification and qRT-PCR/PCR
- Protein isolation and Western blotting/capillary protein electrophoresis
- ELISA/MSD assays
- High-content cell imaging
- Immunostaining and immunocytochemistry
- RNA in situ hybridization
- Extensive experience in designing, validating, troubleshooting, and implementing well-based in vitro assays (96w/384w).
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify technical issues and devise appropriate solutions through innovation.
- High proficiency in (statistical) analyses of biological data, with an ability to contextualize and clearly communicate complex data to inform next steps.
- Detail-oriented and organized with a strong ability to manage multiple experimental projects simultaneously.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, and rapidly growing biotech environment and committed to fostering a collegial, open, and inclusive team culture.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with (semi)automated liquid handling equipment.
- Familiarity with in vivo delivery technologies.
What We’ll Offer You
- Comprehensive, competitive healthcare and dental coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield, vision coverage through VSP, family leave, paid time off, 401k retirement plan, disability and life insurance, and fully covered parking/commuter benefits.
- A dynamic early-stage work environment and highly interdisciplinary, talented, and collaborative team.
- Participation in an unprecedented opportunity to advance a single tRNA medicine to restore disrupted protein production, regardless of target, for thousands of diseases with the same underlying genetic mutation.
- Professional growth opportunities through mentoring, training, immersion in cross-functional projects, and opportunities to learn and try new things.
- Be part of the team that writes the playbook for developing tRNA molecules and you will be critical not only in ensuring that we can understand how our formulations perform in living systems but also in defining how we manufacture for our clinical programs.
