Job Summary:

You will provide legal support across various international legal initiatives, including Coupang’s AI development, in an extremely fast-paced and ambiguous environment. We are looking for passionate builders who can help define our strategy, implement creative solutions, and achieve results. 

What you will do:

• Advisory: You will be a legal problem solver, providing practical, business-oriented legal advice on a broad range of legal issues related to AI development, including commercial, regulatory, and policy matters.  You will lead and execute as an all-around legal strategy on both day-to-day and long-term legal goals, including support for product and services development, commercial arrangements, contracts, terms of use, privacy matters, intellectual property, advertising and merchandising features, and related regulatory and PR matters. 

• Legal risk management: You will design and implement risk management frameworks, including: (1) developing policies and procedures for AI development, (2) establish legal risk assessment, review, and approval requirements, (3) oversee compliance within the legal risk management framework, and (4) build mechanisms across legal, corporate support, and business teams to improve compliance, risk assessments and relationship management. 

• Collaboration: You will work closely with business leaders and Technology, Security, Privacy, Logistics, and Compliance stakeholders located in Korea, Taiwan, China, and USA. You will exemplify strong individual ownership, deft project management, and effective management of outside counsel.     

Qualifications: 

• Qualified lawyer in the U.S., Korea or common law jurisdiction (e.g., England, Australia, Singapore) with 10+ years PQE. 

• Experience in-house and private practice 

• Experience providing legal support for product, search and discovery services. 

• Exceptional ability to consistently deliver creative, thoughtful and business-oriented results that appropriately balance growth and risk in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. 

• Ability to learn voraciously and take on new scope and challenges. 

• Flexible with an ability to adapt easily to rapid and diverse business changes. 

• Strong communication skills, both oral and written. 

• Sound judgment in developing and implementing legal solutions. 

• Fluency in English
