The team’s areas of stewardship include CI/CD, testing frameworks, logging/observability, architecture foundations, modularization, dependency management, and operating system support. The team’s work is more strategic in nature as they seek to stay ahead of anticipated needs.

As a Senior Android Software Engineer on the App Platform team, you will gain a deep understanding of what engineering processes work well and, conversely, where opportunities exist to improve developer experience. You will be a technical leader, guide, and mentor on strategic initiatives focusing primarily on the Android platform. You will report to the App Platform Engineering Manager.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect and build solutions for our app teams that make it easy and delightful to do the right thing at scale.

  • Work with mobile delivery stakeholders (engineers, designers, testers) to decide what to build.
  • Work with your Engineering Manager to plan your strategic initiatives.
  • Teach and learn with engineers across the company.
  • Promote responsible engineering practices and mentor team members.

Who You Are

  • Demonstrable experience with modern Android architecture and design patterns.
  • Solid understanding of best practices in software design and architecture, including familiarity with CI/CD.
  • Customer-focused; understanding what our internal customers want and then building it.
  • Strong communicator and collaborator.
  • Data driven decision maker.
  • Curious, willing to dig deeper; understanding that the first answer may not be the best or even correct solution.
  • Comfortable saying no to a multitude of cool things in favor of building the right thing.

Perks:

  • Work remotely or from our well-furnished, modern office in NYC's FiDi.
  • Unlimited vacation policy.
  • Technology stipend - $4,000 every 2 years to purchase new technology.
  • Full health benefits - medical, dental, vision, prescription, FSA/HRA., and coverage for family/dependents.
  • Life insurance - basic life, supplemental life, and dependent life.
  • Disability leave - short-term disability and long-term disability.
  • Retirement savings - 401K plan offered through Vanguard, with a company match.
  • Generous parental leave.
  • Commuter benefits.
  • DICK'S Sporting Goods Teammate Discount.
