Job purpose
We are looking for a Senior Analyst to support in delivering and developing Control Risks’ analysis of political, regulatory, security, operational and reputational risks across Northeast Asia, with a focus on China. The role involves designing, winning and delivering consulting work for clients of GRA’s products/services in Asia Pacific and globally.
Tasks and responsibilities
Delivering high quality enterprise risk management and risk analysis consulting
- Demonstrate understanding of and business-relevant insight into geopolitical, political, operational and security risks relevant to China and Northeast Asia.
- Lead digital and in-person briefings with clients to present our analysis and consulting projects and provide direct advice to clients involving tactical and strategic recommendations.
- Write high-quality analytical pieces of variable length and on a wide range of markets and issues for a business audience.
- Respond to client requests for analytical support around political, operational or security risk issues.
Business development
- Support scoping, managing and delivering complex consulting engagements.
- Help develop innovative responses to client requests and imagining and implementing new consultancy opportunities for the business in Asia Pacific and beyond.
- Regularly support of client engagement by participating in marketing and business development events.
Development of service
- Develop and improve research capabilities and resources.
- Develop and improve our network of sources and contacts.
- Communicate changes and developments to colleagues and clients, including suggested marketing initiatives and strategies.
Requirements
Knowledge and experience
Essential
- At least five years relevant work experience in consulting or other business advisory, public policy, journalism and/or emerging market analysis.
- Political, regulatory, sector, operational and security risk knowledge of emerging markets in Northeast Asia, with specialist expertise in China.
- Proven ability to write and verbally communicate with authority and clarity.
- On-the-ground experience in the region, especially China, and knowledge of Chinese language.
Preferred
- Chinese language skills
- Expertise on Korea and/or Japan
- Experience in data analysis and data visualisation.

- Excellent analytical skills: ability to provide clients with balanced, business-relevant insight that goes beyond media, academic or policy-prescriptive perspectives
- Capable of handling multiple priorities and tight deadlines while interacting with colleagues and clients in sometimes challenging situations
- Strong interpersonal skills; must be collegial, outgoing and able to network and influence both internally and externally with a sense of variety in people, industries and functions
- Excellent English-language oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to deliver business while maintaining highest professional standards and integrity while being results orientated
